A huge boulder came crashing down on hwy 1 in Pacifica right before Tom Lantos Tunnel. Both lanes have been open, but crews are going in now to remove the debris so both lanes are shutdown causing a bit of a backup.

Thanks for reminding me of the hazards of living in the vicinity of where you do, Dipo. We lived in San Francisco for five years, and we never really did adjust to things just sliding down hills. When we first arrived there, I read about a place called Devil's Slide, a section of US Hwy 1 on the coast, just sliding down the hill one day, no more Hwy 1 there. A couple years later when they finally got it repaired, we drove on it, and it always gave me chills being on the repaired part. And then one day, not far from where we lived, in the tony neighborhood of Sea Cliff, where Robin Williams lived, one day a multi-million dollar mansion/house just slid down the hill. Things just SLIDE DOWN the HILL there. Things do not normally just slide down hills other places.

LOL, Juju, Yep things here do slide, I worked on the Great Landslide of '82, was it? In Marin where a ton of things slide and communities were destroyed. I worked for a non-profit and we helped people figure out how to fix or walk away. It was amazing an awful at the same time.

I do think there are landslides in other parts of the country, you just hear so much about ours.

Chilly but a Beautiful Sunny day !! No clouds and no real breeze. Currently it's 38 with temps going up to 54.

No prediction of rain although a slight chance, less than 20%, later tonight.

About 40 Teslas and Porsches were ruined when floodwater in San Francisco seeped into Alioto's Garage on Folsom Street during the torrential storms.

Day 2 of mudslide issues for ACE Trains. All trains were canceled today when a second mudslide between Pleasanton and Fremont happened on the tracks. An excavator is here now clearing the mud and debris.

It's raining ... for the last time (they say) in the next 7 days! It will be fun to have some sunshine, although it will be colder without the cloud cover.

In California, only about 230,000 homes and other buildings have flood insurance policies, which are separate from homeowners insurance. That means only about 2% of properties are covered against flooding.

Our big mountains in the Cascades Range frequently have lenticular clouds form above their peaks, not quite as spectacular as that Turkish one, though.
