It's a lovely day but it is windy. I was surprised ... it seemed like a bit of breeze but then I opened the front door and a gust of wind blew thru the house, LOL.

We have bright skies, sunny with clouds and temps are going up to 66.

The wind is ridiculous. I had to go retrieve both my trash cans earlier, one had just fallen over but was out at the street since it was postponed trash day and the other in the empty lot next door. Then ran out back and grabbed the cushions off the patio furniture, picked up a potted succulent that had blown over, and checked on the fence (we'll do that several times while the high winds last) to make sure we don't have any of it falling down or gaping enough for the dogs to get out. Though the dogs aren't all that interested in going out.

Not only is it howling wind, but dirt flying around. The patios are a mess, but I've also got a layer of dust all over the house and no way I'm touching that until the wind is done (I think late tomorrow?)

A beach hazard statement for sneaker wave risk has been issued.

The main timeframe of concern is Sunday afternoon through Monday morning.

Long lulls of 30 mins between hazardous waves are likely so be vigilant of your surroundings if visiting the beaches Sunday and Monday.

I learned about sneaker waves when we lived in San Francisco. Every year several people, usually tourists, would be wading in shin high water thinking it safe since they were just wading. And a sneaker wave would catch hold of them and whisk them out to sea, where they drowned. I never dared to go in the water the five years we lived out near the Cliff House in San Francisco.
