I thought of all the pets when I saw the first videos of people running out of Costco and Chuck E Cheese.. Would they be able to get home for pets?

FYI - the investigation into the fire origin has revealed no downed power lines, so they are still unclear how it started. There were several construction vehicles in the area.

Sea, I'm seeing some happy reunification posts, but also the other kind. It just rips my heart out.

We got about 6 inches of snow. That should help with putting out the smoldering fires everywhere.

Two people now reported as missing, one a 91 year old woman - I'm not clear how she got left behind, the daughter (in her 60's) was evacuated by the police, but they said they couldn't find the mom?

Their house is gone.

Still hoping that more of the left behind animals will be found. Some of those that have been found are pretty badly burned.

I always think about pets. I swear if I had people burst into my home I would first tell them to shut the door so the cat didn't get out. I hope I would be calling 911 at the same time.

Pacific Gas and Electric has had so much snow country damage, that it is putting all its hands on deck and calling in reserves to do repairs between storms.

Big drop overnight. 83F yesterday on our patio and 35F this morning. Officially it is 28F at the airport versus 65F yesterday morning. Glad we took down the outdoor Christmas decorations yesterday.

It did freeze a bit, I found about a 1/4 inch of ice in the birdbath. Removed it and put some hot water in there to warm it up.

Even tho it does feel quite chilly out, the sky is blue and the sun is shining brightly! Temps are going up to 49.

Dipo, the heated bird baths work well. They keep the water just above freezing.

Big rainstorm.... lots of flooding in the city. Large stretch of I84 and SR14 through the gorge are closed due to blizzard conditions and numerous accidents. Lots of rain on frozen ground is never a good combination in Portland.

Now, the rains are continuing. ODOT has closed nearly every pass in the state due to the white outs and extreme snowfall. In one area, they say 16 inches in just a few hours. Well, we do need the snowpack, but I feel bad for all the travelers out there trying to get to other parts of the state.

Stay safe!
