I've always got an emergency stash of cash around (and like Sea, small bills) but, carrying cash in my wallet wasn't common until we moved here.
I still write one or two checks a year for the oddball thing (like a niece or nephew doing a school or sports fund raiser,) so don't bother carrying my checkbook anywhere.

I'm pretty old school. I carry cash. Depending . . . prefer paying cash as opposed to cc for most anything up to $30, $40, $50. Never cc for food, groceries or restaurant -- cash. Don't have ATM card. MANY years ago bank made BIG mistake related to my ATM transaction. Not the main reason I don't have ATM card now. My bank doesn't have $10 bills in their ATM or live teller machines. So once a week I go into bank and cash a check to get what I want. MANY MANY years ago I wanted to pay for something, would not take cc -- cash or check only.

Is there some sort of Religious holiday / fete / event happening next weekend, July 24/25?
I ask because I keep seeing UpTV advertising a "Faith Based Movie Weekend" for that time.
I mean I see that happening around Easter and stuff like that so wondered if there was something I didn't know about. TIA.

I don't think it is the Muslim holidays, the ad's seem to be centered around a gospel live concert by Carrie Underwood; so now there is an entire faith-based movie weekend happening.
I hadn't ever heard of a faith-based movie weekend event before, other than Easter, so wondered if there was something.

Don't think so, UPTV hasn't been doing the Christmas in July thing.
The concert is called her first-ever gospel live performance TV special. It's called "My Savior: Live from the Ryman".
After that ad, they then say they are running Faith-based movies all weekend.

And the second one that is like tinkly sounds?
I just get excited for these two songs and want to know their names.

If you're talking about the Ryman Auditorium, "Home of the Grand Ole Opry", that 's in Nashville, Tennessee.

Yes, the Ryman is here! In fact there are two. The original one is downtown and was built as a church by Captain Ryman, a riverboat captain that "got religion." The second version is on the Opryland grounds. It contains a circle of flooring cut out of the original stage, so people can still "stand on the stage of the Ryman"

The new one was renamed the Grand Ole Opray House a number of years ago. The old one is still open for concerts, etc.

Thanks Mak!! I just love it because it brings back so many excellent memories.
Sort of like how I always think of United when their song plays.... the power of music is amazing.
And Tntitanfan, I didn't realize the Grand Ole Opray House was also known as the Ryman and I did see on Trisha Yearwoods cooking show where she was talking about the circle on the stage. I didn't understand the significanc since I thought there was only one Grand Ole Opry.

You're welcome, Dipo! It's one of those special compositions like Here Comes the Bride or Pomp and Circumstance that bring to mind very special moments. I agree the power of music is amazing.
One of my life's very special memories is standing on the Grand Ole Opry stage (as part of a tour group) with my DH and Tntitanfan.

Question...
We have some cracks in the walls of our 15 year old house, and some doors have starting sticking. I know some settling is normal, but it's hard to tell at what point, if any, we should worry.
We're seeing online that you should hire a structural engineer to assess the problem, and if there is one, then get quotes from Foundation companies. Trouble is we're having a difficult time finding independent structural engineers who aren't busy.
We're also being told to just go ahead and hire a foundation company, but we're nervous that they're going to make a problem over something that might not actually be one.
It's all a bit scary. Not sure what to do for the best. Does anyone have any experience in what order to do things?

Oh, I think someone would have answered this for you by now Kitt.
I don't really know the answer but I have cracks in the corners of my walls, at least I think so because the paint is cracked, and a few other places.
They seem to appear when it is dry, and we have been having quite the droughts so it is from the building settling.
It really doesn't seem to be a big deal and we don't seem to have any cracks in the foundation.
