Just watched the match on TV! I think it is a fantastic thing to see when anyone, no matter the country, win the gold for the first time ever.

Agree Lance, I saw the womens cycling where she won the first cycling medal since 1896, it was gold for Austria and it was fantastic.

And I have found that I have adopted Canada as my country as well, unless the US is competing, then I am conflicted.

I have the same problem with Australia, LOL.

A wonderful ode to Japanese tradition: The team from Ireland bows as they enter the stadium during the Parade of Nations.

Wow, the tropical storm headed to Tokyo is causing some interesting changes. I heard they moved up some of the crew stuff because they need calm seas, and the surfers are looking forward to the waves.

The Triathlon has some new rules about allowing littering and water bottles / ice bottles and other things to be given to the racers in the running part.

While I'm obviously rooting for the USA, you can't help but cheer for all these athletes. I think that's the reason the Olympics are one of the few sporting events I watch.

Watching Blummenfelt win the triathlon was fun because even he was shocked he had beat the favorite. I was afraid he wasn't going to cross the line at the end because he kept stopping to look back.

I'm also enjoying the addition of Steve Kornacki introducing the stats.

Gymnast Oksana Chusovitina, age 46, is competing in her final Olympics. Simone Biles had yet to be born when Oksana competed in her first Olympics. Amazing!

Yeah, it did make me wonder about minimum ages for some sports.

Plus I was really wondering where all these Japanese skateboarders came from, it doesn't really fit with their culture. I asked my friend who spent 2 weeks there, I think about 2 years ago, if they ever saw any skateboarders. She was shocked said she couldn't even imagine it since they saw a man whose job it was to sweep off steps with a little brush and dustpan.

But then again, she did say there mostly in touristy places, and I just wondered if they built a bunch of skateparks.

So just how many versions of Basketball do we need so that men can play a game, LOL.

I am not sure I have even seen any women's basketball teams, are there some?

But I have seen normal basketball teams, 3 man teams and now I found there is also a 5 man team competition as well, LOL.
