By this time in the tournament, 60 teams have been sent home, billions of dollars on corporate productivity have been wasted by employees watching all of the games on TV, CBS's Thursday night lineup has been pre-empted 3 times in a row, and there's one guy in your office who says "Wow! If only A Shot At Love with Tila Tequila had won their first round game, I'd be in first place in the office pool!" Everyone's brackets are shattered except for Marge in accounting who picked the winners based on their mascot. "Let's see...who would win in a fight - A Shark or a big gold face grill?"

As for me, I'm sticking with my preseason picks just so my radio co-host doesn't call me a bandwagon jumper. I'll take Survivor in the early game and Amazing Race in the late one.

I agree that these are brutal battles.

North-South Semi-Final

1: Survivor - Big Brother is an amazing concept but they just haven't maintained the quality over the years. Survivor was the first and the one that started it all and they've done incredibly well keeping it fresh and interesting for forty incredible seasons now.

East-West Semi-Final

1: Amazing Race - The Great British Baking Show has had an incredible run but The Amazing Race is just too tough to beat.

Mware, how aware of you!! I actually won one of these pools in South Padre Island, TX one year, and that is the very same strategy I used. (strolls off) ... just call me Marge.

Well, we are down to the final 2. Lots of votes and lots of upsets, and yet we end up with what many people would have predicted from the start. Go figure.

At first I just hoping to find 64 shows and then I struggled to reduce the almost 80 shows down to 64. So much reality. The challenge of splitting in to 4 groups and ranking each from 1 to 16, while trying to be fair to the shows I was not very familiar with, was not trivial. 3 of the brackets seemed to balance fairly nicely. The West was kind of a mess.

I felt good with the 4 top seeds from the start. Knowing that North/South and East/West would match up in the semi-final round, I struggled with placing the top seeds into each bracket. At one point I had Survivor in the West. That could have knocked out the Great British Cooking Show in round 2 and would have Survivor and TAR meeting in the semi-finals.
How different would the finals have looked?
How much farther would American Idol have gone?

The brackets were setup beautifully. Nicely done!

The only surprise for me is that the Bachelor franchise didn't perform better. A lot of people watch it but despite that maybe it isn't well loved. Curious contradiction. On the other hand, The Great British Baking show is well loved, though I doubt its viewership is as strong. I also would have thought that BB would have performed a little better against Survivor, given the amount of hashing and thrashing that we do over it here every summer.

Another show that is performing very well in the ratings right now is The Masked Singer, but if I remember correctly that went out early on as well.

The ongoing love for an old show like The Mole (including from myself) is quite extraordinary given its relatively short run so many years ago.

It's been a fun competition!

Survivor against Amazing Race? Tough choice, but I have to go with Amazing Race.

This board has always been chock full of Mole lovers. Apparently it's how we roll. Plus it had Anderson Cooper, and that's not nothing.

Heckagirl: A little early on the voting, but I'll remember your pick in case you don't make it back after voting has opened.

Yes, I'm dragging this out a little longer.
Think of the 2 week wait for the Superbowl!

I'll be back in a little with a comparison of the final 2 challengers.

Juju, and now Anderson has an adorable son, named for his (Anderson's) father.

Pamy, I am sure you are correct about the outcome, but we still have to vote!
