I was about 3 1/2 when I had my tonsils out. I remember vividly the baby doll pajamas my mom made for me. Lavender with tiny little flowers all over. She made my doll matching pajamas. When I got home I wanted a peanut butter sandwich, but mom said I could only have ice cream and pudding.

Still got them. I’m amazed. I thought practically everyone had them out back in the good old days.

Had them out around 3 or 4 yrs old. Still vividly remember the finger pricking they did to get a blood sample. Ouch! (Lol)

And waking up after surgery to see my mom and dad there is my fondest memory. Seeing both my mom and dad peering worriedly and lovingly at me, side by side, over the bars of the hospital bed is my ONLY memory of them as a parental unit and us as a normal family. Which explains why to this day, I instinctively feel safe and at home in hospitals.

(They separated when I was 2, and were always bickering whenever they were in the same room.)

I still have mine. A few times, a doctor advised removing them when I was little. My mother would take me to another doctor to hopefully avoid that! She said my older sister nearly died when she had hers removed.

I had bad strep throat every single winter of my childhood it seemed. I would suppose my parents couldn't afford for me to have my tonsils out. When I was 21 (both parents died before I was 19) I got yet another bad case of strep throat, and decided on my own it was time to get them removed, so I went and got it done. In the ensuing 50 years, I have only had ONE other case of strep throat, in my late 20's and nothing since.

I still have my tonsils....bless those little beauties. They would become sickies, enlarged with white patches through most of my teen years during the winter months. I'm pretty certain my single working mom had health insurance for us but she was never able to take time off work to get me in to see a doctor.

I never had strep throat either. There are some advantages to being a bookworm.

Tonsils and adenoids removed at age 7.. Before that I was sick a lot.

My brother did not need that operation, so I assume he still has his.

I have a bridge due to an adult tooth that never existed.. But I still have all four wisdom teeth.

Missing one anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus.. To The replaced, several female organs removed due to cancer but happily I still am mostly me!

Jimmer, I do remember that at some time it seemed that tonsils were yanked just because.. Which blows my mind because it was not pleasant at all!

Tonsils and adenoids out at age 3. I remember being told that they wouldn't do the surgery on anyone younger than 3 so the day after my 3rd birthday is when I had my surgery. Mine were real bad I guess. I remember my dad bringing me the prettiest dress I had ever seen: It was a blue & white stripe with pockets & large multi colored buttons. I loved this dress & fondly called it my "tonsil dress".

I was angry that I've cream was promised. No one had freezers, so I've cream was really a treat.

But it was like barbed wire, plus they used ether which leaves you throwing up.

I was wild when I came out from under the ether, fighting everyone. When I came to myself my ice cream cone was melting in the sink. I was constantly sick every winter before I had them removed, not so afterwards.

I did. I got a 7 foot fiber-optic+LED Christmas tree that was $200 for $34! I already can't wait to put it up next year.

I don't know if it is a big score but I love the metal christmas tree I got at Safeway 50% off before christmas, only $15. It's really cute.
