I predict an earthquake. Followed by a tornado. Because god, or perhaps a goat, has decided that neither of these teams is allowed to win.

There it is, hold on Cubbies!

Although I am so torn for Cleveland, what a heartbreak it will be for them if they lose. See, this is why I can't watch sports!

I am freaking out here. I have been a Cubs since I was 12.

The outside of Wrigley Field is mayhem right now even though the game is in Cleveland!

I'm just glad that Cleveland didn't score again and tie up the game because ten it would have gone to the Supreme Court and you never know how that would've turned out.

Congratulations to fans of both teams.

Up until now the best Series game-wise was considered to be the '91
Series between the Twins and the Braves. That changed last night.

 I feel better now.

So, was that short rain delay the tears of God tying to decide which city to bless and which city to crush? I think right choice was made!!

The other option would have been to leave it a tie and bring on the rapture.

<... 11/8/2016 is next potential rapture date ...>

Congratulations to the Cubs & their faithful fans.

Very disappointed in the national coverage which treated Cleveland as a footnote throughout the Series. But locals know the adversity our team had to battle through as well as the painful history for our fans. Not meant to sound like whining but it got to be a bit hard to take.

Congrats Cubs fans! Watching the WS without your team in it is so stress free! We went to extra innings in a game or two last year. (Mets fan here)

I agree with you, Calamity. I didn't know anything about the Indians!!! Their pitching in the first game was phenomenal!

I agree about Cleveland. People seem to forget that they've had a much longer drought as a city without a World Series champion than Chicago. So it is rough for them to lose this one.

I don't know what you mean Jimmer. The last time the Cubs won the World Series it was 1908. The last time the Cleveland Indians won the World Series it was 1948.

He probably means the Sox won in 2005, so Chicago has that World Series win.

For many in Chicago, you are either a Cubs fan or a Sox fan. For Cubs-only fans, 2005 means very little.

Bob said "For Cubs-only fans, 2005 means very little"

Oh you are so correct with that statement. It meant so little to me that I forgot!

Yes that is what I was referring to and I realize that people cheer for their team. It must be interesting to live in a city that has two major league sports teams in the same sport. Even if I was cheering for one of the teams, I find it hard to imagine that I wouldn't feel some pride or enthusiasm if the other team won. But then again, I've never experienced that personally. No offense intended. :-)

Interesting Naja. I didn't see your most recent post before I posted but that was the impression that I was getting. That they are considered completely separate by fans.

Up through the end of work yesterday I had quite a few Sox-only co-workers saying things like,
"At least we've won the World Series in the past 100 years."
They are not very happy this morning, since the Cubs-only fans are now asking,
"What have the Sox done in the past 10 years.
It's mostly good fun, but there are extremes on both sides that limit the number of Chicagoans who are equal fans of both or willing to cheer for the other team.

That is funny Bob! I imagine there is a lot of good fun, as well as some fans who take this very seriously. At least in baseball, they are in different leagues though with the interleague play it must be fun when they play each other!
