Thanks. Nice view of the Ernie Banks statue.

I think tonight's first pitch was moved to 5:07 CDT since Toronto won their game last night. Need to win tonight, then find a way to get one of the next two.

It was nice of the Rangers to give the Blue Jays a chance but they definitely need to bring it tonight! (Sorry Bob!)

I'll cheer for the Rangers over the Blue Jays. I'm just glad for the later start so I could get home to see the Cubs win.

Nice to see the bats come to life and pick up Arrieta and get him a win on a night where he didn't have his best stuff. The bats will need to win game 4 since I think Jason Hammel will get the start.

You would have thought I was watching a horror movie instead of a Cubs game tonight. I was so nervous in the top of the 9th that I was covering my eyes every time a pitch was thrown....LOL!

Cubs Win!

I thought I was going to get to fill in more of my brackets by today, but I am happy as a clam to just be able to fill in "Cubs". :-)

So it looks like my Chicago Cubs will be playing the Mets for the National League title.

The last time the Mets won the World Series was 1986.
The last time the Cubs won the World Series was 1908.

I think we know who should win this year!

I've talked about my Granny in other parts of the board, but I want to explain her here. Her name is Joan Kukankos.

She turned 99 last July. She is a mega Cubs fan, and she has never seen them win a World Series.

Last week she couldn't get out of bed and was moved from her retirement apartment to the assisted care area.

She barely has the strength to pick up the phone when I call.

This is LITERALLY the last chance for my Granny to see the CUBS win the word series.

It took a little while before I could post. My heart is so broken. It's going to take quite awhile before this sting wears off. Not because of me, but because I really was wanting it for Granny.

I live in the Kansas City area, so we still have hope for the Royals. They appear to be trying to lose it at the moment, though.

Ok, so my KC Royals will be playing the Mets in World Series.

I hope The Royals not only win the WS, but hope they kick ass and embarrass the Mets.

Yes, I am bitter right now.

LOL

I don't want the Mets to win since they did beat the Dodgers. So, sigh, go Royals! lol

The whole outer wall of Wrigley field has been stripped off for the new one. It's supposed to look all modern next season. Here's the live cam again showing the construction.

I don't know if anybody has been paying attention, but the Cubs have bought some very expensive players over the past couple weeks. And Castro, our big error guy, is gone.

I don't think I have ever seen the Cubs spend this much money. I think it's a good sign.

I've noticed Naja. At least one of your new players is a former player with the Tampa Bay Rays. Our loss and your gain! Ben Zobrist was a loved player here and I'm sure you all will love him too. Great guy!

I could cry right now. Mega Cubbie Kyle Schwarber is out for the whole season after his collision last night !

btw: In our house his nickname is "Schwin-Jin". (after a character in HBO's Deadwood) DH will yell to me if I'm out the room "Schwin-Jin's up!"...LOL

The Cubs have the cutest new player. He is adorable. He's Japanese and struggles with English, which makes him so funny.

I can't believe how great my Cubbies are doing, even without my boyfriend "Schwin-Jin" (Schwarber). I'll have to go back to my boyfriend from last year, Bryant.

Right now my Cubbies are 14-5. What an awesome start to a season!

I don't want to jinx things, but here it is mid August and my my Cubbies are in first place by 12 games right now. 72W, 41L, .637

It's just such a happy season so far for us Cub fans.

My Cubbies are now 81W 45L .643 ! 1st place by 14 games ahead of the Cardinals!

I made a countdown/up calendar for them to win 100 games this season, and it's smack in the middle of my fridge. There's about 36 games left, so 19 more is possible. They haven't done it since 1907.

It would sure be a change from them losing 100 games just 4 years ago!

My Cubbies magic number is 3, and there's still 19 games to go! :-)

I'm doing my own little countdown to 100 wins. They are at 92 right now, 8 to go.
