GAL, I saw Crole King's interview on Larry King and she talked about the abusive husband and her hardscrabble life on the farm. I was shocked at that turn of events in her life.

She made some strange decision for sure, Mameblanche - she was never clear whether she just wanted the hell off of the fame machine and took her best option or if she was that bedazzled by her men. Kind of a combination of both I think.

Well I was around when the first James Taylor and first Jim Croce albums came out. We loved James, but Jim.. just the best and when he died in that plane crash, just a tragedy.
landi, hmm, I just got an email from
Amazon saying the book had been returned and thought, wow, I know she is a fast reader, but...
Not sure I can resend since we can only lend once but I'll see what I can do. It SHOULD be available to the person I did lend it to!!

I'm reading a series (I think the first book was "The Tree Shepherd's Daughter...I'm on the second one, which is "Into the Wildwoode.") by an author named Gillian Summers. It is a really cool story about elves and fairies and unicorns and the like. I thought it would be a throw-away (usually Kindle free has the first book of a series and so far I haven't been tempted that much to buy the second) but the concept grabbed me so I bought the second of the series.

That is the beauty of free first in a series.. give us a chance to read a free book but if we get hooked, give the author more sales. Plus a free book offer bumps sales up on Amazon's list (though you can get a list without free books included too) and gets more attention.
I haven't read it, but I did get that free first book too.

I'm reading Where'd You Go, Bernadette? by Maria Semple. I've heard such great things about it and could not wait to read it. I'm loving it.

I finished Mothering Mother which was actually a compilation of her blogs, and quite good, though of course sad along with being sweet. Lendable, though I don't see a line at my door for it.
Starting Whale Song by Cheryl Kay Tardif, a Canadian author. Also lendable.

I finished Where'd You Go, Bernadette and it definitely lived up to all it's hype. Loved it!
