I'm reading "The Shoemaker's Wife". It was recommended a while back in this thread. Great book, really enjoying it.

I'm reading The Sandcastle Girls by Chris Bohjalian. I had no idea about the Armenian genocide.

I read "Skeletons At The Feast" by Chris Bohjalian. I think it was during my Holocaust readings.

Teach I finally finished New York. It was good but being a massive book it was exhausting.

I'm really enjoying War Brides.. sort of a mingling of people a la Maeve Binchy.. not as sweet but interesting.. WWII an unlikely mix of women in the English countryside.. good stuff.

Thanks, Mame. I'll put it on my list for next summer as it is definitely not one to be read during the school year. :-)

Sea, I was afraid of that since it was in Oprah's book club, too. It was another in my batch of 10 for a dollar at the thrift store. I have some fun things on my Kindle to read after this.

Just finished Emily Giffin's new book Where We Belong. I really enjoyed it. Was about a girl who turned 18 and met the birth mother who put her up for adoption and the birth father who never knew she existed....and also featured the family she was adopted into. There were no "villians"...but yet most were not perfect people either. I hope there is a sequel because I think there are more stories here.

Mame - call me loca, but I just got the audio version of New York from our library. It's 30 parts! However, I'll be listening at least 30 minutes a day, so I should be able to get through it by Christmas. :-)

I'm just over 200 pages into New York. I like it so far and it has been pretty fast reading. Of course it is 860 pages, so I haven't made that big of a dent yet :-)

Finished The Next Queen of Heaven by Gregory Maguire today. It was significantly different than his Wicked series, but I enjoyed it. His irreverance toward all "taboo" topics always makes me smile.

Teach, I think it's a very UNloca thing to do, and rather fun. Should bring the story to life more as an audio. Merry Chrismas!

Elizabeth, I also plowed through quite a bit, and then suddenly ran out of steam and took several days off, before commencing again. Enjoy!
