Anyone seen Bridesmaids yet?

I saw it this weekend and loved it. It's a raunchy (and in some places, gross-out) comedy for sure, but super funny.

To be honest, I've never been a big fan of Kristen Wiig's characters on Saturday Night Live. I've found them often to be too shrill and/or one-note. But she really carries this film. Her character could have been easily derided, but she plays her as someone you can understand and relate to, even while she is having not-so-proud moments.

I recommend it.

P.S. -- But it is an ADULT movie. There was a group in the row behind us with 4 approximately 4-8 year old girls. COMPLETELY inappropriate.

I havent seen this movie yet. The trailers make me wince as it seems like its trying too hard to be "the Hangover" for women.

but I'll probably give it a watch if I can find it online

It was alright. Not nearly as funny as I anticipated. Some of the humor fell flat not just to me but the theater audience sat silent during some scenes that obviously were supposed to be funny. There were some realllllly funny scenes but kind of hit or miss. The gross out scene I didn't watch -- not my kind of fun. Some of it went on too long like so many SNL scenes tend to do. It doesn't hold a candle to The Hangover. I don't get all the fuss. Too much build up.

Yankee I cant believe they brought 4 yr olds to this!!!

this movie is the funniest I have seen in a long time!!! I loved it!

The theater was packed (which says a lot since this has been out awhile) The crowd hooted, hollared, clapped and it was so fun experiencing it with a crowd that was enjoying as much as I was.

The funniest line 'it's comming out like lava' I cried from laughing so hard. Melissa McCarthy stole the show. I just found out she is Jenny Mccarthy's cousin.

I'm with Pamy, I thought this was the funniest movie I have seen since It's Complicated. I'm not as big a fan of The Hangover as most. I thought it was funnier than The Hangover.

This was really funny. Also in my theatre there were small children.

I hate to see small kids in R rated movies. That really bothers me a lot. I wish their parents had more sense.

I agree that Melissa McCarthy stole the show!

I also agree that I have never cared for Kristin Wiig's characters on SNL but I have enjoyed her in the two movies I've watched.

I felt the raunchiness was way over the top at times without needing to be and couldn't help but wonder if they felt they had to do it to compete with other films today.

Kappy- I haven't seen this movie yet, only the commercials and I think perhaps they make it raunchy to keep the guys in the audience entertained? I mean it's geared towards women but I'm sure many a 'movie night' women have gone with their significant other?

I do agree with you though that they do need to keep up with the likes of "Hangover 2" and so forth.

I enjoyed this film and was really wowed by Kristen Wiig. This girl can act! I could really see her emotions in her face. I think the film went on a bit long, maybe a tighter edit to keep it moving, but overall $5 well spent.

Just saw it yesterday afternoon and I haven't laughed so hard in I don't know when. I really think it's worth seeing on the big screen.

The scene with them in the dress store getting fitted for the dresses made me laugh hysterically but it was a combination of nervous laughter and disgust. lol "It's like hot lava running out of me!" Eeeek!!!

I, too, haven't laughed so hard in I don't know when.

Parts were really disgusting though.

Loved this movie. I don't get why toilet/poo/barf scenes are funny, so that bit didn't do it for me.

OK, except for maybe Melissa McCarthy when she is shouting "look away!"

She steals this movie. Her scene with the 'air marshal' and where to hide a gun, is hilarious.

Melfie....I agree, my laughter at the poo/barf scene was definitely a combination of things; mostly feeling grossed out. HOwever, when the bride came outside in her gown to cross the street I found it looked so funny; like she was a bird, especially the way she sat down, she looked like a big swan and the way she tried to keep her composure even though she knew what she was doing underneath her dress! lol

"Look away" also had me in gasping for air from laughing so hard.

I too loved the "Air Marshal" scene in the plane with the 'hide the gun'. Thanks for reminding me, just made me laugh.

Also can't wait for the DVD, I bet there's a TON of outtakes/bloopers!

The air marshall actor is Melissa's real life husband. I agree she was a total scene stealer!

More trivia. The woman Kristen Wiig is sitting with on the plane who is scared to fly, co-wrote the script with Wiig.

I saw this with two sorority sisters. We laughed so hard our sides hurt. I suggest you go with your girlfriends...

I just went and saw it for a second time, bringing along 2 others who hadn't yet seen it. I still laughed till there were tears rolling down my face.

The theatre was still quite full for a weekday matinee.

Isnt it illegal to show obscene material to children?

If the children were with an adult over the age of 18, there is nothing the manager could do as far as the content of the movie. [FWIW I thought those under 17 had to be with a parent or guardian, but according to below, just an adult.] I once asked for some children to be removed from an R rated movie because they were scared, crying, & whining saying they didn't want to watch the movie. But the group was told to leave because of the noise, not because of the inappropriateness of the film for the children.

R - Restricted - Under 17 requires accompanying adult over the age of 18. The person is required to stay with the child under 17 through the entire movie, even if the parent gives the child/teenager permission to see the film alone. These films may contain mild or implied sex scenes, prolonged nudity, strong violence often with blood and gore, strong horror scenes and explicit/illegal/prolonged drug use. A movie rated R for profanity often has more severe or frequent swearing than the PG-13 rating would permit. An R-rated movie may have more blood, gore, drug use, nudity, or graphic sexuality than a PG-13 movie would permit. Some R-rated films have an "unrated" DVD release with scenes of violence, sexual material, or profanity that have been edited from the original cut. At its inception, the R certificate permitted patrons aged 16 and older to attend unaccompanied, but this was raised to 17 in the 1970s. Examples include Scarface, Scream, and The Godfather.

I just watched this on HBO last night. I wanted to see what all the hype was about. It was okay, pretty good in some parts. I also thought Melissa stole the show. Did not know that was her husband. I enjoy "Mike and Molly", too.
