Would You Rather. I think it's from 2013 so you've probably already seen it Naja. It's pretty intense. Sort of like Saw. Has Brittny Snow in it which is what interested me. I'm not a good judge of scary movies but it did keep my interest.

I watched a mild one last weekend. It was just ok. Not great.

Winchester (2018)

It's about Sarah Winchester, the widow of the family that made their fortune on the Winchester rifles. At the time, they were state of the art war weapons.

Sarah thinks the ghosts of everyone killed by the Winchester guns comes back to her mansion to haunt her.

If anybody is a fan of the ghost hunting shows, almost all of them at one point have been to the Winchester mansion to investigate it. And the cool thing is that a lot of the movie was actually filmed in the real house.

The Winchester house is really interesting. I've been there a couple of times; one time was a late-night Boy Scout outing. That was creepy!

I visited the Winchester house on vacation as a young adult. My parents scoffed, but took us anyways and they ended up really enjoying the tour of the house.

This one was very thrilling and action packed. Super tense and scary with a lot of violence. The person that did the make-up deserves an award.

Ghostland (2018)

It's about a two teenage girls and their mom moving into a house they inherited. The very first night there, two very creepy serial killers attack them. It jumps to several years later, and the one daughter that has moved away travels back home to see her mom and sister that still live in the house, and things get even more scary.

I didn't understand what was going on until 3/4ths into the movie. It's a cool mind-bender. I enjoyed it a LOT.

Here's another decent one.

Truth of Dare (2018)

It's about a bunch of college friends on vacation in Mexico, and they follow a stranger to a strange place and start a game of truth or dare. But this game is different. If you lie or don't do the dare, you might die.

It stars that girl that played Aria on "Pretty Little Liars".

"Truth or Dare" starring the girl from Pretty Little Liars is a movie that was released in theaters in April. No way it's on Netflix yet. It must be something else with the same name on Netflix.

We just saw "A Quiet Place (2018)" and it was so good!

I actually felt exhausted afterward because you are on edge for every minute of the movie.

Its about a family trying to survive in a post apocalyptic world where these scary creatures roam the earth and hunt by sound.

My teen and I saw A Quiet Place in the theater. It's a good one. A bit different, not too graphic or too scary. Well done.

I watched this movie last night only because it sounded like the most ridiculous movie ever made.

Horror and Hamsters (2018)

It's a very low budget anthology of horror shorts, with the cutest hamster videos in between each one. LOL

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8558596/reference

Of course it's not a good movie, but the silliness of it all made it fun! :-)

I watched such a good one late last night!

Ghost Stories (2017)

It's a about skeptic who goes around debunking psychics and hauntings, and other similar things. A retired skeptic like himself asks him to investigate 3 cases, and let him know if his mind is changed afterward. I let out a few good screams and jumps during the investigations!

One of my favorite actors, Martin Freeman, is in it. So I knew at least the acting would be good.

This was a Spanish language movie with subtitles. I would call this movie a combination of real movie/ found footage. In other words, it's a regular movie where they show found footage within the movie. And it's goooooooooood!

Noctem (2018)

The movie starts out with news reports of 2 handsome young men going missing, and the only thing recovered are their belongings, including their cell phones.

Flash to a year later. Both men are still missing.

One of their friends breaks into where the evidence is held to investigate what happened for himself, and starts playing the videos that were on their phones. They were making a documentary on strange things happening in one of the men's home. Oh its scary!

I scored a hat trick :-) I managed to watch 3 good scary movies in a row (including the last 2 above). I was in a long dry spell there as far as finding good ones.

Hereditary (2018)

This one starts out that the grandmother in a family has passed away, and you get the feeling that she wasn't a very nice person. Plus, she was very secretive. She was particularly close to her 15 yo granddaughter, who is also a very odd.

Some very strange (and scary!) incidents lead to secrets being revealed. Another must see. Gabriel Byrne and Toni Collette lead the cast, so you know the acting is good.

OH! Ann Dowd is in it, too. She's Aunt Lydia on "Handmaid's Tale".

This one has a great plot, but it's a bit of a slow burn. I recommend it.

The Atoning (2017)

This one is hard to explain. It seems like a movie about a family being haunted in their big home, but it's so much more. I don't want to spoil it by saying too much.

This one was pretty fun. Not the greatest, but it kept my attention.

Ruin Me 2017

A group of young adults participate in something called "Slasher Sleepout". It's where horror movie fans can have their own scary movie experience while camping. But you guessed it, things start going wrong and seem just a bit too real :-)

This one was pretty scary. It's done in documentary style, with lots of live scary events, so there is some camera jerkiness at times. My Granny is such a devout Catholic, she'd be angry that I watched a movie like this. LOL

The Devil's Doorway (2018)

"In the fall of 1960, Father Thomas Riley and Father John Thornton were sent by the Vatican to investigate a miraculous event in an Irish home for 'fallen women', only to uncover something much more horrific."

This one was a lot of fun.

Summer of 84 (2018)

4 teenage boys think their cop neighbor is a serial killer. So they spy on him and try to find evidence.

What a wild ride this movie is.

Before Someone Gets Hurt (2018)

A team of ghost hunters investigate a house that has a history of not letting people leave alive. These ghost hunters like to play pranks on each other, but is what's going on a big elaborate prank, or is it really happening?

This one is so good!

Boarding School (2018)

A troubled boy is sent to the oddest boarding school with only 7 students. Is it really a school?

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6224502/reference

Just in case anyone else gets as confused as I was, the flashbacks are his grandmother back during WWII, and it's also important to listen close to the story the scary old woman tells the boy at his grandmother's funeral.

I can't believe I hadn't seen this one already. It's perfect for the Halloween season next month!

Hell House LLC (2015)

It's a fake documentary about a group of young adults that turn an abandoned old small town hotel into a haunted house for the Halloween season, 2009. It's their business. It's how they make money. But something happens on opening night when several people are killed inside the hotel.

The documentary tries to figure out what happened to them, and there are some big scares! I totally recommend this movie.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4267026/reference

Next I am going to watch "Hell House LLC 2: The Abaddon Hotel", the sequel. It just came out.

I just watched the sequel "Hell House LLC 2 (2018)

What a disappointment. It's also done in the documentary style, but it takes place a few years later, and has a lot worse actors. It was sloppy and all over the place, which made it hard to follow. The synopsis at IMDB says:

It's been eight years since the opening night tragedy of Hell House, LLC and still many unanswered questions remain. Thanks to an anonymous tip, investigative journalist Jessica Fox is convinced that key evidence is hidden inside the abandoned Abaddon Hotel-evidence that will shed light on the hotel's mysteries. She assembles a team equally hungry for answers with one goal: break into the hotel and discover the truth.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8707374/reference

With all that said, I still liked it a little. LOL
