Those kinds of docs are so interesting to watch. I've seen "Grizzly Man" a couple of times and I wouldn't call that one scary, but it is good. It's just about that guy who spent half the year in the wild protecting bears from poachers, and he and his GF eventually were killed by a bear. It's more sad than anything. Thanks for the list.

I watched the final one from my oldies list above this weekend.

Suspiria (1977)

Oh goodness. I don't understand the high ratings. I have never taken acid, but this movie is what I think was made for watching while taking acid.

It has that weird goth mood and colors, and it's about a girl going to Europe to a live-in dance school. ON the first night she arrives a girl is running from the place screaming, but she still decides to stay. LOL

Of course the women who run it are "odd", and there are murders. But what is the dance school a front for? hmmmmm.

For me it was laughable, but it looks like many people love it.

I saw "It Follows" about a year and a half ago. I enjoyed it. I went back to look at my post about it and apparently I thought the end was weak, but it did scare me.

HBO has a new documentary called
"Beware the Slenderman".

It's so creepy.

Beware the Slenderman tells the true story of 12-year olds Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier, who lured their best friend into the woods, stabbed her 19 times, then confessed they did it to appease a tall and faceless man known online as Slenderman.

http://www.hbo.com/documentaries/beware-the-slenderman

I remember back when the crime happened, I went online to read about slenderman, and just the photoshop made photos of him were scary enough.

Is anybody else a super fan of the original "The Ring" movie from 2002?

I think almost everyone knows it was remake of the 1998 Japanese movie "Ringu".
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0178868/reference

But what I didn't know until yesterday was that there was also a Korean version of the the movie made in 1999 titled "The Ring Virus"! (also just "Ring")
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0289424/reference

I just watched it tonight and I think the only big difference between the Japanese version and the Korean version is the Korean version left out most of the visually gruesome things, but the story was so much the same. OH, except instead of a little boy as the protagonist, it's a little girl.

It was fun seeing a third version of one of my favorite horror movies.

"Rings" (aka The Ring 3) is in theaters right now and I can't wait to see it!

The Ring was a very good horror movie. One of the few that have made me a bit uncomfortable.

My 15 year old and I just watched Ouija Origin of Evil. She wanted to watch a scary movie and now we are both freaked out. The eyes. The face! I think she'll be sleeping with me tonight. LOL. I don't believe in ghosts, but this one creeped me out.

I liked this one, but it's quite violent.

"Don't Hang Up (2017)"

It's about a couple of teenage boys who make very cruel prank calls, and then post them online. But one night, the prank is on them. yikes.

This one was a decent.

"Don't Knock Twice (2017)"

There's an urban legend about a house where an old woman had died. Everyone thought she was an evil witch, and if you knock twice at her door, she will come and get you. The story revolves a troubled teen and her mom that is trying to reconnect with her.

Here's a stinker that wasn't worth the time.

"Moth (2016)"

It's a story about a college teacher and one of her student volunteers traveling to a place that where there have recently been quite a few spottings of the "Mothman".

Of course there is a big twist and a horrible turn of events, but this is one of the self filmed documentary type shows and the acting it awful. Just skip it unless you are into torturing yourself.

This one kept my attention, but I wouldn't call it good. Maybe good enough if there's nothing else to watch.

"Arbor Demon (2016)"

It's about a married couple that decide to go on a camping trip to rekindle their romance, but the wife is hiding the fact that she is pregnant. Something supernatural has murdered some others in the woods, and they try to survive the night in their tent.

I thought this one was good. The twist is so creepy!

Shut In (2016)

It's about a widowed psychologist alone taking care of her her stepson that is left in vegetative state.

Naomi Watts and Oliver Platt star in the movie.

This is long but interesting. I promise!

I found out such strange things today while looking up a handsome actor I spotted in an old comedy/horror movie from 1967 called The Fearless Vampire Killers (1967) which also starred Sharon Tate, and was directed and written by her husband Roman Polanski.

Iain Quarrier is the name of the handsome actor I was looking up. Iain Quarrier (born April 12, 1941 in Montreal) is a Canadian actor. I had originally seen the movie in the 70s when I was kid. I remember thinking he was the most handsome man I had ever seen.

I looked him up with such innocent intentions. Did he make more movies? Did he age gracefully? etc....

Oh jeez what I found.

It ends up he was dear friends with Sharon and Roman, and after Sharon was murdered, he was so upset he quit acting and ended up for awhile in psychiatric hospital in London.

But that's not the bad stuff!

You know how Roman Polanski was accused of molesting little girls? Well here's a quote from wiki about his buddy Iain Quarrier.

Later life

After suffering a mental breakdown in 1972, Quarrier spent time at Bethlem Royal Hospital.

In 1996, Quarrier received a police caution for indecently assaulting two girls.

On 7 October 2008, Quarrier pleaded guilty at Blackfriars Crown Court to the attempted abduction of a five-year-old girl in a busy supermarket in Ladbroke Grove, West London. He was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, suspended for two years. Two weeks prior to the incident, Quarrier had attempted to 'purchase' a nine-year-old girl in the same supermarket. Quarrier also received a Prohibitive Activity Order, banning him from unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16 years. He was also ordered to comply with an alcohol treatment directed by his probation officer.[3]

The main reason I bring this up is because I was thinking about now I know what he and his best buddy, Roman, had in common. Both sick people.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iain_Quarrier

He was so handsome back then. I bet he tricked a lot of girls.

This movie had such a simple premise described in the synopsis, that I really didn't think it could be any good. But it was!

Unfriended (2014)

It's about a group of college friends that of course are also on Facebook. One of the pretty friends is nice to a weird outcast girl and even friends her Facebook. As a matter of a fact, she is the ONLY friend the weird girl has on facebook. The weird girl starts getting really clingy and annoying, so the pretty girl unfriends her. The weird girl gets very upset by this.

Oh boy do things get scary after that!

If anybody has never seen The Univited (1944) that we were talking about earlier in the thread, Svengoolie is hosting it Saturday night, March 18 on MeTV.

It really is a must see.

This is one ofmy favorites since I was a kid. My siblings and I used to scare ourselves crazy after watching it. Unfortunately, when my kids saw it, they were not scared and wondered what the big deal was!!

When I was a kid there was a movie named "It's Alive!" about a killer baby, and is scared the crap out of me and my brother. When my brother showed it to my niece and nephew, they laughed through it....LOL

Over the weekend I watched
"Havenhurst 2016"

It was just ok. Maybe a little better than OK, but I expected so much more since the star of the movie is Julie Benz, the woman that played serial killer Dexter's girlfriend on Showtime.

The movie is a about an alcoholic woman with a sad past, moving an apartment---- a very old and large apartment building. It's beautiful. The owner let's people in who need a hand.

But if you break the building rules, eviction is a bit rough.

Ok, now here is a movie you can't judge against Hollywood scary movies. This film was funded on meager budget by someone begging for money on "Gofundme". I truly feel for such a tiny budget, these guys did a great job.

"Gorenos (2016)"

Miles is haunted by a supernatural entity in the wake of his 18th birthday.

Here is where I check what will be upcoming on Svengoolie.

http://www.tvguide.com/tvshows/svengoolie/episodes/367757/

So the week after "The Uninvited", he is showing the original "Dracula"!

Even though vampire movies are my least favorite horror movies, I truly appreciate Bela Lugosi's first showing as the monster.

Now this one I watched last night may not be for everyone.

The Snare (2017)

The synopsis tells you it's about a 3 young adults (2 girls, 1 boy), going to spend some time in an empty seaside apartment building owned by the guy's dad. It's big, maybe 20 stories. But there is no one staying in it at the moment, not even staff. Totally empty. The 3 of them decide to stay in the top story apartment for their vacation.

They get trapped in their apartment and can't escape. Something or someone has locked them it. Days and days go by, and horrible things happen. There is a rape scene.

If anybody sees it, let me know if you saw a deeper meaning to the movie. Because here's what I thought.

Spoiler
Click below to view spoiler
I thought the whole thing was in the main girls head. She was sexually abused so I thought the whole apartment episode was her trying to escape into her own mind with her friends while she was being abused. But her abuse was so bad she couldn't even create a safe escape in her own mind

btw, not one other person saw what I saw in the IMDB comments. They only looked at the surface of things.

I don't even know how to explain this one. It's horribly acted, but the story is interesting.

House of VHS (2016)

A group of friends in France go to vacation in old abandoned cottage. They find a bunch of old VHS tapes, and when they play them weird things happen.

Really, it's horrible acting, but the idea with what happens when they play the VHS tapes is kind of interesting.

Reminder: This Saturday night (3/18) is when they are showing 1944's "Uninvited" on Svengoolie on MeTV. Especially first timers, please report back if liked that old timey type scary movie :-)

I think I saw it for the first time in the 1990s when I got cable for the first time.
