Wolf Creek was based on the true story of a sadistic Australian serial killer(s). It was very scary! I'll be interested to see what the TV series does with the story.

I really enjoy Asian horror films and last night I watched the South Korean made "The Wailing (2016)".

The thing about Asian horror is that they don't have the need to have everything make sense. Sometimes it makes their movies more fun, but sometimes it makes it just frustrating.

The Wailing is about strange murders in a Korean town that seem to coincide with the arrival of a Japanese stranger.

I liked it. Not great, but decent.

Shark attack movies have become cliché, but this one was good!

The Shallows (2016)

It's about a woman who goes alone to visit a secluded beach that was special to her and her deceased mother. While surfing there, she runs into a bit of a shark situation.

This one is silly and fun with celebs we know.

"Ghost Team (2016)"

It's about a group of friends (3 of whom are Justin Long, David Krumholtz, and Amy Sedaris!) going on paranormal ghost hunt for the very first time in order to win a contest hosted a by the famous TV ghost hunting team called the "Ghost Getters".

Guess who heads the "Ghost Getters"?
The famous real life guys from "Ghost Hunters", Jason and Steve!....LOL

Oh please watch if you are a fan of the SYFY ghost hunting shows :-)

I watched a halfway decent new scary movie called
"Satanic (2016)"

It stars Sarah Hyland (the girl that plays the elder daughter on Modern Family). She, her cousin, and both of their boyfriends are headed to Coachella, but decide to stop on the way to tour famous true-crime devil worshiping sites for the fun of it. Things go horribly wrong on their journey.

"MovieMoron" has put out their top 20 scary movies "so far" of 2016. I've seen 11 of them.

I have to disagree with them about "The Invitation". I thought it was really bad.

What is scarier than Snakes on a Plane? Zombies on a train! Haha

I love Asian horror movies, but usually they are about ghosts. I just saw my first Korean zombie movie and it was so good.

Train to Busan (2016)

It's pretty much how I made it sound. It's about people stuck on a train during a zombie outbreak.

A couple more from the MovieMoron list I have seen.

"Southbound (2016"

It's about a few intersecting stories of some basically sinning not so good people traveling through the same town and having horrific experiences. Is the town a hell? I liked it.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4935334/reference

"13 Cameras (2016"

Now this one is just creepy. A troubled couple rents a house, and the weird landlord spies on them. It was "ok". Not bad.

One more for tonight....

Green Room (2016)

I started this one when I was near falling asleep, but it got so exciting, I stayed awake for the whole thing!

It's about a punk rock band that gets a gig at a really slimy and out of the way club, but they accidentally witness a murder in the back room, and of course the owner won't let them leave. But they have to try to escape.

You won't believe whom it stars as the club owner. Patrick Stewart!

I admit this one was somewhat juvenile, but it has a really good twist and I enjoyed it.

The Good Neighbor (2016)

"What starts out as a prank ends up becoming deadly. A group of high school students decide to play a joke on an unwitting neighbor. Not only do they manufacture a fake haunting, but they've also got the surveillance materials available to record the man's every reaction to the forced, seemingly supernatural events. However, it soon turns out that the joke is on them. When they begin to see things that defy explanation, it becomes obvious that they may have played a prank on the wrong man."

AMC has been showing classic horror movies for Halloween season and last night I watched "The Killer Shrews (1959)"

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0052969/reference

Oh goodness, did I laugh throughout....
It's about experiments being done on tiny shrews that accidentally turns them into giant shrews. The giant shrew are played by German Shepherd dogs in shaggy costumes...LOL!

It was so fun to watch :-)

Another fun oldie I watched was called
"The Corpse Vanishes (1942)".

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0034613/reference

It stars Bela Lugosi, and it's about a rash of deaths where brides die during their wedding ceremonies, and their bodies are stolen. A female reporter ties it to Bela's character and he is is stealing their bodies bodies to get their blood to keep his 80 year old wife young looking.

I enjoyed it!

I've watched quite a few scary movies since I last posted.

Last night I watched "Sacrifice (2016)". I really liked it!

Sacrifice is the story of consultant surgeon, Tora Hamilton, who moves with her husband, Duncan, to the remote Shetland Islands, 100 miles off the north-east coast of Scotland. Deep in the peat soil around her new home, Tora discovers the body of a young woman with rune marks carved into her skin and a gaping hole where her heart once beat. Ignoring warnings to leave well alone, Tora uncovers terrifying links to a legend that might never have been confined to the pages of the story-books.

Now this one kept me on the edge of my throughout. It's really good.

"Don't Breathe (2016)"

3 twenty-somethings, 2 guys and a girl, break into the home of a blind man, thinking he would be easy rob. Oh boy, were they wrong!

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4160708/reference

Really, watch this one if you can.

Here are 2 good ghost stories I watched over the weekend.

"The Dead Room (2016)"

After a family in New Zealand flees their home because of terrifying occurrences, a team of 3 are hired by the insurance company move in to investigate.... and they get terrorized, too. Now this isn't some kind of found footage type show. It's an actual scary drama.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3952108/reference

Next is "The Remains (2016)"

A widowered man and his 3 children move into a big old house with scary secrets, and scary ghosts.

DH and I loved this one! It's more combination crime/horror. And oh so good.

"The Neighbor (2016)"

I'm not even sure how to describe it. I guess it is about a criminal who really wants to get out of the criminal life and escape to Mexico with his girlfriend. They live in the country and for a living they are the stop where drug runners stop to get their license plates changed. And he provides the new fake plates. Anyway, his weird neighbor lets him know he knows what he is up to, but it seems the neighbor is also up to something :-)

I found this movie very interesting. I'm glad I didn't know the meaning of the title before I watched. To me it sounded like some kind of film noir, and I was right about that, but it's so much more.

"Abattoir (2016) "

An investigative reporter teams up with a Police officer to solve the mystery of why a seemingly good man murdered her sister's family.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1480285/reference

The weird thing about this movie is it was hard to figure out what era the film took place. Just when I thought it was the 50s, someone popped out a cell phone. LOL
This really is a cool film.

I finally watch your recommendation Naja, The Resident. I very much enjoyed it and a plus with Jeffery Dean Morgan.
Have you heard of the movie , The Invitation? One of my Facebook friends really loved it. The premise sounds good.

I also want to say that the only reason I brought up my past post about "The Invitation" is because I really didn't want Lakecat to think I didn't like that movie only because she posted about it. We have different views on another part of the board and I sure didn't want her think I was carrying it over here by not liking a movie she suggested. I really didn't like it way before she posted. I hope you see that, Lakecat.

Lol, I understand.
Is the movie sort of slow? My husband likes a lot of graphic blood and guts and I like psychological thrillers. I like to find movies somewhere in between. There are so few movies and TV shows we can agree on.

Well, somewhere on the board is a lost post confusing someone, because I swear I replied to this just now and it's gone. LOL

I said the movie wasn't slow. It's just wasn't enjoyable. I think the only clever part was the last 30 seconds.
