I totally surprised myself this week by liking a movie that was about a reality tv show.

"Scare Campaign (2016)"

I would describe it as a movie about a reality TV prank show where they scare the living crap out of their targets. Except now things have been taken too far and the real horror ensues.

This one was decent.

"Pay the Ghost (2015)"

It's about a man (Nicholas Cage) who takes his son to carnival on Halloween, and his son disappears. After about a year of searching, he and his wife realize he wasn't kidnapped by a person, he was taken by something supernatural. The wife is played by the woman who played Laurie on "Walking Dead".

I just lined up about 20 scary scary movies to watch that I have never seen from 2014-2016.

Tonight the one I chose to watch was
"Robert (2015)"

It's another one of those "haunted doll" movies, and it was pretty fun. Scary enough, but since it was a haunted doll, it was also funny :-)

In this chilling story based on real life events, a family experience terrifying supernatural occurrences when their son acquires a vintage doll called Robert.

If anybody subscribes to STARZ movie channel, I found another documentary I hadn't seen. It's called "Going to Pieces: The Rise and Fall of the Slasher Film (2006)".

It shows how slasher films started and their changes through the years. There are interviews with famous horror movie directors and stars, plus lots and lots of movie clips.

I also found it uploaded to youtube in its entirety.

I'm going to see "Lights Out" at the Matinee showing tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes. The matinee is only $5.50 here. (compared to $11 at night).

I hope you enjoy. Looks so scary! I love matinee pricing - it's when I see most movies.

I don't know how you do it! I went to see Sausage PArty today and they showed a preview for a scary movie with a blind man. It was so awful I had to look away. I couldn't even stand to watch just the preview!

Brenda, think of a scary movie as scary without consequence. Heck, even going on roller coaster has more real consequence than a scary movie. The roller coaster could malfunction and you could die. But a scary movie gives you a good scare without any actual danger.

I'd do a roller coaster any day, even though I could suffer real physical harm! A scary movie gives me emotional harm as I can't unsee things and sometimes the visuals will haunt me.

Awww Brenda :-(

There are lots of mild scary movies without scarring imaging. One example is "The Boy" we were discussing earlier.

I watched 2 movies that I thought were going to be the original and it's sequel, but it ended up they weren't. They didn't have anything to do with each other.

The first one, "The Invoking (2013)" was ok, Nothing to write home about. It's about A girl that gets left a house in the country by her aunt that she never met. She and her friends take a road trip to see the house, and she learns some horrible things about her past and things all go to hell.

The second one, "The Invoking 2 (2015)", was much better (but still not great). It's an anthology of about 5 separate scary stories of the paranormal. It was kind of fun. Something for Halloween.

Now here is a new one that is really pretty good. It's combination horror/fantasy.

"Before I Wake (2016)"

It's about an orphaned little boy that goes from home to home, and we find out it's because he has dreams and nightmares that manifest themselves into reality.

I really recommend this one. Good for all ages.

DH had never seen "Dressed to Kill (1980)", so it was a treat to watch it with him tonight :-)

He guessed the killer halfway through, but we were so young and innocent in 1980 that it was a shock when we found out who the killer was. That was back when they still let kids into the R movies without a parent, and when you could stay for another showing for free. I think my brother and I stayed for 3 showings.

Fun to revisit those old film. I'm guessing it was far less graphic than the films of today?
And I remember fondly my mom buying us tickets to see R rated shows and then picking us up afterward! Good old days! :-)

I watched a really good one the other day. It's for every age, yet still good.

"The Darkness (2016)"

It stars Kevin bacon as the father of a family that goes on vacation to the Grand Canyon. During the trip, their tween son with autism brings finds something interesting on a hike and brings it home. What he brings home ends up terrorizing the whole family.

I watched this one last night and I loved it!

"The Conjuring 2 (2016)"

If you saw the first "The Conjuring" then you know the paranormal investigators, Lorraine and Ed Warren. This time they travel to the UK to investigate the famous case of The Enfield Haunting. (There was a mini series on it earlier this year that was pretty scary)

Scary movies don't really get high scores on IMDB, but this one sure did. 7.7 out 10. It got 80 at Rotten tomatoes!

Really, it's good.

I was just reminded of a scary movie from 2005 that I really liked. It starred Kate Hudson as private nurse hired to take care of an invalid man on an old Louisiana plantation mansion. This one really is good....and exciting!

I watched an oldie but goodie last night that I had never seen before.

"Man Made Monster (1941"
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0033879/reference

It stars Lon Chaney Jr. as a man that is the object of an experiment where he is shocked with electricity. Eventually he he shocked so much he becomes a sort of electrical monster....LOL!

The cool thing about this movie is that it's how he got his role in his next movie "The Wolf Man"! The producers were impressed with him in this movie and chose him for the wolf man part. I thought that was a cool and fun fact.

That is fun, Naja.

I was looking for a horror movie for us to watch last Saturday. Saturday is movie night for us. My wife wasn't feeling well and went to bed early and my DD's thought it would be a good chance to watch a horror movie (their Mom doesn't like them much).

So I picked The People Under the Stairs. That's a surprisingly entertaining little movie. The characters are great (especially the little boy).

While watching POP this past week (BBAD) they've been showing previews of a 6 episode series, "Wolf Creek", based on the Australian horror movie of the same name. Anyone know which channel this will show on?

Just found that it's scheduled to show on POP, which is a surprise to me. They usually only show old movies, sit-coms, etc.
