Youtube of Harlan Ellison's accurate and acerbic review of this overhyped film, absolutely worth a moment or two of your time!

Even though the reviews are not that great, I want to see this movie. I think it will be fun.

Not at all what the commercials led me to believe it was about, but my daughter (19) and i really enjoyed it.

Thank you, Very interesting Mameblanche.
The only thing I got from that though was that P L Travers who wrote Mary Poppins did not like Walt Disney's version of Mary Poppins???

Maybe I missed something??
I agree that the trailers make this movie look interesting. I will not be watching it for a history lesson, only for entertainment.

This is a great movie - it's worth watching just to see Emma Thompson's performance. Can't believe she wasn't nominated for an Academy Award - she should have won it for this role, which was so complex. Terrific screenplay, Colin Farrell and Tom Hanks were great in their parts as well. Strongly recommend. Colossus and I both loved it.

Emma Thompson is this generation's Vanessa Redgrave, and all that represents politically. IMHO/YMMV. As for the movie it was enjoyable. I saw it on TV on Demand. Puts less money, if any, in her pocket.

I loved it too GAL and was disappointed it didn't get more Oscar nods. Very good film. Hanks was great in it too.

Oops double post. So I'll add how fun it was to see Disneyland on film.

I watched it without sound on the plane from Vienna to Dulles a couple weeks ago. My seatmate was watching it, and I could see her screen better than mine. Tom Hanks absolutely nailed Walt Disney. In fact, it took me a while to figure out who was playing the lead characters.

Just watched it yesterday. Loved it. Emma Thompson is a goddess of an actor. She is well equipped to step into the shoes of Helen Mirren and Dame Maggie Smith.

We watched this Saturday (Netflix) and the first part was draggy, almost gave up on it, and then it hit its stride and we truly enjoyed it. By the end I had even shed a tear or two.

I'm such a huge Emma Thompson fan she could entertain me by just reading the phone directory.
