Ang Le wins Best Director! Wow. Most critics thought it would be Speilberg.

Yep, that was a surprise. Spielberg has been snubbed in the past...The Color Purple.

" Our next presenter needs no introduction"... then Seth walks off stage. Funny!

Well you could see that trip coming a mile away. She handled it well. Ang Li deserved that oscar, I am sure, but Spielberg continues to be underserved by the Academy.

That was just awful. I am so ashamed for the people who produced this show. That was shameful.

The closing song was a botched piece of dreck. Pretty much sums it up for me.

I really enjoyed this year's oscars. Loved the musical numbers. Was mostly happy with who won in each category. Best speech goes to DDL for sure. Ben Affleck would get second place.

Loved Jennifer Lawrence's candid speech. She's so refreshing in Hollywood. Too bad that she tripped. Hubby yelled out, 'Somebody help her!'... So sweet. She was a real trouper.

I dont like Mrs Obama's bangs, I want to push them out of her eyes. I think they make her look older

I agree about Jennifer Lawrence, Mame. It was sweet that she wished Emmanuelle Riva Happy Birthday.

I'm with your hubby... I actually started to get up to help her-lol! I think I was a little too far away to be of any assistance!

Finally got back here to check on comments:
Mame, I totally agree with your comment "Thought the opening was offensive and boring. Wish Seth would talk less and sing more."

I loved the opening musical dance numbers, some delightfully surprising, but thought Seth ranged from "mediocre" indeed to offensive. The other most offensive part: the lame ending. Felt so badly for Kristin Chenowyth who got stuck with that.

Who were the producers this year?

I really like McFarlane as host. Some of his jokes weren't awesome, but he's a very appealing and talented character. My favorite host from recent years has been Steve Martin, though. I think the Academy made a mistake not keeping him on all these years.

Boo on Seth McFarland as a host. Bring back Billy Crystal or Robin Williams. The jokes were NOT funny, they were offensive and tacky. The opening was slow, offensive (who in the world would think that funny?) and sent my DH to bed. The finale was a dud. Was bad....really bad.
