I thought this was the least funny episode ever. Even Laurie Metcalf couldn't breathe life into it. I sure hope this is a fluke.

I enjoyed it, especially when Sherman and his mom said grace.

I liked it when Sheldon and his mother started on evolution. Been there, done that.

I went to the taping of this season's 5th episode. To warm the audience up, they showed the cut of the 4th episode. It was weird seeing them out of order...

What fun, Yankee_in_ca, I am jealous.

I watched the season premier again this morning. Still funny.

This show and Better Off Ted are my favorite comedies. Of course, Better Off Ted doesn't seem to be on ABC's line-up.

I took Kota to the store earlier to spend her birthday money, so wandering up and down the toy aisles. I about fell over laughing when we walked past the Toy Story toys and there set the cowboy. All I could think about was Howard and Raj and poor Kota had no idea what I was laughing at since she hasn't seen the episode yet.

Darren came home from school early that night so last thing I saw was Sheldon's mom offering them drinks and we haven't had the chance to watch it on tivo yet.

Another funny episode. Hunting for a cricket. Raj saying something like what do the non pathetic people do?
Too tired to remember it all right now. No doubt I will watch it again tomorrow.

Still not feeling it this season. Teeheed a few times. Watching reruns this summer, some for the third time, I was laughing out loud. Can't put my finger on it but something is different.

I'm lovin' too.
It is a little different but what I am noticing is that not everything is "Sheldon". He is still very funny however, the story lines are bring more Leonard into them. He is also very funny but a little bit of an aquired taste. Sarcasm verses wit.
IMHO

i think the show is getting back to the balance it had in the beginning when it was an ensemble show rather than the "sheldon show".

Really......I don't know but I was under the impression that the guy that plays Leonard is gay. I don't know where I heard it.....just somewhere.......

Johnny Galecki is straight, but he has done a few roles where he portrayed a gay person, so I think the impression of him being gay may stem from that.

Trivia from IMDB

The two main characters (Sheldon Cooper and Leonard Hofstadter) are named after Sheldon Leonard.

Penny was an add-on from a different sitcom concept. She had been originally envisioned as more cynical and a hard drinker.

Raj's inability to talk to women is based on an old coworker of executive producer Bill Prady when he worked at a computer company.

Leonard's last name, Hofstadter, refers to two well-known scientists: Robert Hofstadter, the 1961 Nobel Laureate in Physics, and his son Douglas Hofstadter, who researches consciousness and cognition and whose best-selling book about philosophy, mathematics, puzzles, art, and music, Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid, was published in 1979 and won him the 1980 Pulitzer Prize for general nonfiction.

Sara Gilbert (Leslie) who plays Leonard's girlfriend, also played Johnny Galecki's girlfriend in "Roseanne" (1988). Laurie Metcalf, who plays Sheldon's mother, was also his co-star in Roseanne.

Sheldon's assertion (in the episode "The Hofstadter Isotope") that having Bruce Wayne know who murdered his parents destroys any motivation he has for continuing to be Batman comes directly from the works of Chuck Dixon. Dixon is one of the most prolific writers of the Batman comic books, and is the creator of the villainous character Bane (who appeared in 'Batman and Robin (1997)'). His work as a comic book writer has also been referenced in 'Punisher (2001)' and 'Batman' (1992)'.

The original working title of the show was "Lenny, Penny and Kenny".

Penny is the only one of all the main characters who's last name has not yet been revealed.
