OMG!!! I just watched it on cbs.com full episodes, which you will need to do pretty soon, as they don't stay on there for free for very long, 2-5 weeks. I gasped, I cried a LOT. Best episode ever of NCIS!

I don't think so. We heard the door actually open/shut.

I love that she's back. But it can only be for an episode or two I would think. There's no way they can bring her back permanently without Tony and their child.

That said, I am hoping that Tony shows back up even for just a minute. I can't imagine that Gibbs would keep that kind of secret from Tony!

She's back to save Gibbs' life. Her only line was, "you're in danger" (or something to that effect.)

I went traveling out of the country starting April 15, and I have been playing catch-up on CBS.com with the CBS shows I watch. I am up to about mid-May, and watched a mid-May one tonight, the one where last week or the week before Gibbs told his team he had killed the man who killed his wife and daughter, and nobody has really talked about it since.

So tonight, Gibbs is acting all Gibbs-like whacko and walking out on a crime scene and GOING TO A BAR TO DRINK DURING THE DAY. And his psychiatrist, who I remember from her movies/television debut a million years ago as a really cute but odd-looking young girl, is now about 60.

And when they get to the nut of Gibbs's craziness, aside from the cold-blooded murder thing, Gibbs is also going crazy contemplating retirement. Which got me to thinking - just how old is Gibbs supposed to BE by now? He has been on NCIS forever, like since before 2000, and he was probably in his (television age) mid-30's then, which would make him now VERY close to mandatory retirement age for federal law enforcement, which is currently 57. But, THIS is the first time Gibbs' upcoming retirement has been mentioned? Or that he has contemplated it? Not bloody likely.

But it looked to me like that is where the series is heading. I had also thought about not getting rid of Gibbs before the Ziva thread is worked out, but that involves Tony, who is now successfully Bull (in a real-life reincarnation as an actor), but fictional Tony is raising his and Ziva's child.

I might have to cheat and not watch the end of this series in order with the other CBS shows I have not caught up to date with yet.

Juju, I googled "how old is jethro gibbs on NCIS?" and got this:

"Leroy Jethro Gibbs was born in 1954 as confirmed in the episode "Date with Destiny", in which he visits Shannon's grave and the date is shown on the headstone.[5]"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leroy_Jethro_Gibbs

----

Looks like Jethro Gibbs is about 65 on the show, but Mark Harmon will be 67 in September 2019.

NCIS started in the Fall of 2003. This year will be it's 16 years. So that would mean when we picked the show up at the beginning, he was already 49 or so.

Thanks, SanFran. Which means Gibbs is already 8 years past mandatory retirement age of 57, which is stated in a roundabout way in the paragraph below about being no older that 37 when hired, because one must work 20 years as a law enforcement officer to receive a pension.

https://news.clearancejobs.com/2009/06/08/tech-smarts-needed-at-ncis/

So, the notion of Gibbs being terrified to retire is extreme fantasy. Gibbs would have been forced to retire 8 years ago in real life.

Well, well, well. Ziva's return was frenetic almost too much in one episode. From what I've read she's only going to be back for 4 episodes, 2 now and 2 at the midseason finale. Sounds like this storyline will go on until January.

Oh! But one factual fallacy. The bedbugs. Bedbugs are very sensitive to heat and would not have survived a fire. Oh! A second factual fallacy about bedbugs - bedbugs do not bite where the flesh meets the mattress. They live in and under the bed, come out at night and bite exposed portions of skin, like where you have thrown off the blanket. You would squash a bedbug if you rolled over on it. But the storyline made for a good narrative, even if the forensic premises were faulty.

Okay, so at the end of last season Gibbs was being interviewed by this very interesting, very good looking, seemingly ditzy 60-ish magazine reporter, and she and Gibbs hit it off pretty well. They might even have been falling for each other. I thought she looked vaguely familiar, but couldn't quite place her.

Tonight I watched episodes 2 and 3 of the current season and looked at the acting credits that play about 5-6 minutes in. It said guest actors were blah blah, and Pam Dawber, who played Mindy in Mork and Mindy MANY years ago and who is married to Mark Harmon in real life. I wondered what role she played, and then I realized that she is playing the reporter. No wonder the chemistry is so good.

They did a cute little thing in episode 2. Gibbs' FBI buddy Fornell appeared in this episode and was overly interested in Gibbs' relationship with the reporter, Marcie. Fornell was grilling Gibbs about her and pretended not to know her name, so he said this Mindy? Marcie? what's her name? Very cute. Mindy. I am thinking you have to be really old to catch that tiny nuance.

Juju, I completely forgot they were married IRL. They did the same thing on NCIS: New Orleans where Scott Bakula's wife IRL was his love interest on the show.

I'm really liking the new cast members and look forward to the show this season. That said, I did shed a few tears when McGee realized Gibbs was staying in Alaska.
