Out of all the "Power" spinoffs, Force is the best one.

I'm totally psyched about The Gilded Age being renewed. I'm now binging Downton Abbey since it was also written by Julian Fellowes (and I never watched it the first go-round). I'm at the end of S1 and am thoroughly enjoying it.

I am so excited and looking forward to the next season of The Gilded Age. Downton Abbey is fantastic too!

Seems like covid affected a lot of things, the actors or crew find other options, without the momentum of just doing the same show year after year. A lot of shows seem to have stopped prematurely because important people wanted to move on.

i don't think it was COVID - more like the prolonged strikes that have cancelled so many shows/movies. I may have missed a post but when reading about The Good Doctor it's the first time i saw ABC cancelled The Good Lawyer too before it even started (after the backdoor "pilot" last season). I was looking forward to seeing that show too...

Yes, you’re right, the strikes on top of Covid. (When I was writing I was thinking Covid is too long ago, and this was more recent, but completely forgot the strikes!)

Some shows filmed when there were COVID restrictions (we are actually still IN COVID despite dangerous declarations by those who should know better) but the strikes brought everything to a halt except some reality shows and I guess game shows. Even when it was legal to restart talk shows there was backlash anyone who did, like Drew Barrymore. The aftereffects are still rolling, with businesses that worked with the entertainment industry, like for props, clothing, food services, restaurants going under. They didn't get any support to keep afloat that those on strike got.

I thought there was already talk that this season could be last and now it really is and I am sad. The claim is that we will get a good ending..

Yeah, better to let them finish properly than suddenly cancel. And this really is the story of Shaun becoming a surgeon more than being a surgeon, imo, so it might be a good time to go out.
