Finished watching The One. It was very good.

The ending is pretty open which is great for people like me who’d like to see another season but not as good for people looking for a lot of closure.

"My Octopus Teacher" is the only Oscar nomination that I have seen so I'll skip the show.

Octopus won the Oscar. It tugs at the heartstrings.

That makes me very happy, Sugar! I just binged Season 2 yesterday and it really left me hanging.

Just finished ,I Care A Lot. Very good. Stupid question, but can that really happen?
Also I’ve been watching Dolly Partons, Heartsrtings. The stories have been pretty good.

I Care A Lot was very good. Scary and sad as well. Rosamund Pike did a great job with that role, making me thoroughly dislike her horrible character.

It was also fun seeing Peter Dinklage in a different role than Tyrion.

There is a series, Dirty Money, that has a different subject matter each episode. One of them was about court appointed “guardians” of the elderly. Very eye opening. Good series if you’re interested. Believe it was on Netflix as well.

Lakecat, create a durable power of attorney and give someone you trust that power.

I'm so grateful that I was able to care for my mom. She was in a big Brookdale facility for just over 6 years, and spent her last year in a private board and care (only 5 patients). She had dementia and was basically helpless and childlike for most of that time. Even before she went into care, she lived with us for 7 1/2 years, and I handled all of her finances, doctor's appointments, medical care, etc. It was total role reversal. Neither of my brothers could have done what I did. I'm grateful I was able to care for her, especially now that she's gone. I think I'm going to have to depend on my son when the time comes for me.

The problem is, if my husband goes before me, anyone that I’d know to handle my care will be as old as me.

My head is still spinning from the twisty-turny series Harlan Coben's The Stranger. I loved it and hope his other books are as good as this one.

I've just watched that too. I spread it out to one a day - very unlike me - then binged the last three in a row because I couldn't wait. It really kept me guessing.

Lakecat, I'm in the same boat. No family -- only child, never married, no children. I do have all legal papers done. My two executors, etc. are both only 14 years younger than I. There's no one else I can ask / trust. I kinda think I'm in better health than either of them. So what do I do?

I think there are options to set up elder care for people who might be considered "elder orphans". The AARP website has some suggestions.
