I'm looking forward to this as well. Definitely one of last year's pleasant surprises.

Thanks for the heads up Dipo.

The first episode was pretty laid back for a Science Fiction show without much action but still quite enjoyable.

There’s a surprise in tonight’s #TheOrville ep — Make sure to watch live on Fox at 9/8c so the online spoilers don’t get to ya first!

I love this show. It's so much like Star Trek TNG, but better. I hope those who haven't seen it give it a try.

I watched it but I didn't recognize anything that one would refer to as a "surprise". Unless he was just referring to who the doctor was interested in...

Anyone know what the "surprise" was?

I think that was it, the doctor and the computer man.

It may have been that we got to see the real life actors who play Isaac and Yaphit.

Jimmer, I think you nailed it.

I couldn't accept the doctor/robot relationship as being a "surprise", because it has been done before. Tasha Yar/Data. I know this isn't Star Trek, but I can't help thinking of (and comparing it to) ST-TNG while watching.

Yep, seeing the real actors behind two alien characters was a fun surprise, even though I didn't think of it like that at the time because I wasn't looking for a surprise. (I read Dipo's post about a "surprise" after I'd already seen the episode.)

Thanks!

***Vague Spoiler***

I thought the "surprise" was from the previous episode - when a character was revealed to be someone else than thought. The air date of that epi matches the tweet date, I think.

I think you're right, Calamity!

I didn't notice the dates...but you're right, there was a surprise twist in the episode that aired on the 17th, the day of that tweet.

It was a surprise that has been a lot like a similar situation on Star Trek Discovery! People aren't always who/what they say they are!

I love this show. Drama, Suspense, and belly laughter. I think it works so well because all of these actors are friends. I watched a panel discussion on Netflix with the cast. They were all out of costume, so I already knew who they were. Bortus and Klyden are both classical trained actors. Seth uses many of the same actors that are voices on Family Guy. The biggest surprise was that Kelly and Gordon are a couple in real life.

I was surprsied last season when I found out that Klyden (husband of Bortus) is played by Chad Coleman, who played the role of Tyreese on The Walking Dead.

Last night's show was quite the PSA on A.I.'s potential threats.

They really ratcheted the mood as the epi progress...anxious curiosity to growing unease to shock and horror (with a musical interlude.)

I agree it was a pretty interesting show and probably the best of this season so far.

This series is a very odd sci-fi mix of comedy, human relationships, serious subjects, etc. It’ll be interesting to see where they go with this in the next episode.

As an aside, one of the simple things I like about this series is there are lots of lights on the ship, much like the original Star Trek and Star Trek: Next Generation. I don’t know why they feel the need to make current sci-fi so dark, both literally and metaphorically.

I love this show! It is my favourite 1 hour show out there right now. As others have mentioned, it is such a great mix of comedy, drama, spoofs of Star Trek. I watched all the Star Treks except Deep Space 9, only the first season and didn't go further.

This weeks episode with it being 'To Be Continued' reminds me of the Borg. This episode was a little darker than normal for them but I can't wait to see what happens next!

I hope they don't continue too serious as I get my serious Trekky fix form Star Trek Discovery.

Hahahahah, Boris and his spouse are now addicted to cigarettes, LOL. So now they are going to try and come up with something to help them be able to quit.

They opened up a time capsule.

I have to say the smoking and gum chewing was pretty funny. I don’t recall seeing anyone smoke on network TV in years?

It was so funny when they opened the door to thier quarters and it was filled with smoke as they sat at the table, I was cracking up.
