Is anyone else watching this show? What kind of cancer does Max (the new medical director) have?

Good question!

I don't think they have said, but it may be throat cancer since the show is based on a doctor at Bellevue who wrote a book, and he had throat cancer.

I am watching it. The female oncologist used to be on Doctor Who and I think Torchwood.

I like this show a lot. Rather than saying no, he always says "How can I help". It's kind of refreshing. The downside is that it's on at 10, so I don't always see it.

Hi RoTeach & Kooklie, I PVR all my fave shows. I wait about 20 minutes after it starts taping then I will start watching from the beginning but behind everyone else, and zipping through commercials. If you can, I highly recommend it.

I also DVR my shows. I have a backlog of Outlander shows from last season to watch and this season's Poldark. I usually watch New Amsterdam the next day because I watch NCIS New Orleans in "real" time.

I don't DVR anything (don't have one)... I watch when they come on or not at all.

You can usually also watch episodes online after they've aired. :-)

The guy who plays the psychologist was on The Hub Today yesterday and announced that the show was picked up for a full season.

Yes, Mame, it's a big YAAAY from me also. I love a good hospital show but never could get into hospital shows like Grey's Anatomy that became more like a soap to me.

Another good episode last night. There comes a time when saying yes all the time makes things worse.

Max has the kindest face. He does that little head tilt and looks so kindly at the patients and I think, please be my doctor even though you aren't really a doctor.

He does!

My doctor has a kind look (and is a very kind person) and listens.. Very important.

The head tilt is very effective.. Just ask puppies!!

I agree. Max could be my doctor any day. In fact, when I had to choose a new doctor in my practice years ago, I chose the new guy because he reminded me of Noah Wylie in ER. I've never regretted my decision. He is a kind and caring doctor who listens.

OK. Thought I posted a reply to Sea's and Mamie's posts but it's not here. I agree with your opinions on Max. He could be my doctor any day. In fact, when I had to choose a new doctor at the practice I use, I chose the new guy who happened to remind me of Noah Wylie in his ER days. I've never regretted my decision. I have a very kind and caring doctor who listens.

I watched the Rookie last night instead of New Amsterdam, not a good show and I won't make that mistake again.

With respect to The Rookie I just have trouble seeing him as that character after Castle. It just seems contrived.

I agree, plus there were so many unlikeable characters. IMO

I made a season pass for New Amsterdam. I like it.
