Starting this for discussion, since several of us plan to watch. Moved posts from The Good Doctor thread.

I plan to watch this one.

Thank you, Spunky. i have it set to record. I really like the main actors. The male doctor was on The Gilmore Girls and The Good Wife.

I am pretty excited about the new Medical drama-The Resident Spunky.

I love Emily VanCamp and am so happy to see her in a new show. I still miss Revenge!

As soon as I started watching I said "this must be someone's nightmare and will wake up", but nope, that was happening, a surgeon with unsteady hands?? Oh no, not another loony show, but then something in the dynamics of the hospital kept my attention, a new young Resident led by another young doctor, Conrad, who with his unconventional ways could teach the young Resident useful lessons, the nurse who admires Conrad and steers the young Resident to trust Conrad, well, okay, this plot could work. But the Nigerian woman doctor who is blackmailed by the 'unsteady hands' surgeon and performs the surgery hiding while the surgeon takes all the credit, well, that didn't work very well for me, just too absurd. But, it's a tv show, I so hope in my local hospitals there are good and normal doctors.

I see this is going to be a rote plot - the rebel doctor who is supposed to appeal to us, but grabbing a woman and kissing her against her will, not is style so much anymore. Times change.
I find the lead very repulsive, but it could just be me. Too predictable for me.
But then hey, I watch the Nancy Drew intellectual equivalent movie mysteries on Hallmark so who am I to judge.

Jimmer, there is the arrogant, abusive ass doctor who is incompetent, or has become increasingly incompetent, and uses his power to threaten anyone who calls him out.. I mean threatening to get someone deported, or to lose their career.

And the rebel arrogant ass doctor who is incompetent but plays mind games with his underlings while challenging the incompetent one And almost pulls the plug on a patient.

It fits in my schedule tonight but if it comes to a conflict, unless it has improved dramatically, this one is out for me. Time will tell.

"Jimmer, there is the arrogant, abusive ass doctor who is incompetent"...

Seamonkey, when I first read that, I thought you were talking about a proctologist!

I think they need to dial back on some of the abhorrent behaviour by the Chief of Surgery and the Male Doctor. And now there seems to be something off with the female Cancer Specialist.

This show is not exactly good PR for Hospitals!!

I love Emily VanCamp and those two arrogant Doctors are playing their parts well, but this show is sooo dark.

Thanks for the information. I don’t know if I’ll watch this but I’m enjoying everyone’s commentary here.

I agree, there is something quite dark in this show, makes me want to hope those things don't happen in our local hospitals, and definitely makes The Good Doctor show a 'peach'.

What I like is that they carry on the medical cases to the next episode which gives continuity to the story, I always found the cases on House ended so quickly, never could figure out how long it took to cure those very rare diseases.

But do we really need to see the blackmailing and the incompetence of the chief surgeon, (makes me want to stay away from doctors and hospitals) the arrogant ways of young doctors, by the way, the title of the show "The Resident" refers to Conrad, as the Senior Resident or the new Resident, or is the Intern... I'm a bit confused about these titles, and the new doctor has quite a bit of the 'know it all' syndrome too, when in fact should be more respectful of Conrad's advice. The nurse is the glue that keeps the pieces together.

I can't see this show lasting. I will stick with Chicago Med and Code Black if it ever comes back on. Was it cancelled?

Chicago Med is getting old. Same stuff with Dr. Reese over and over and over.
