And how hysterical is it that the old people feel a need to get up on the bar and dance, it was really pathetic to watch. I mean seriously, I was dying.

The flashback stuff is to set the tone for the ring Phillip Chancellor wanted Jill to have for their wedding. Katherine kept it from Jill all these years. When Katherine died she left Jill a message which led Jill to the music box with the concealed key. Jill did not figure it out and eventually the music box was donated for charity.
