Anyone else planning on watching American Gothic? I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be a rip off of American Horror story, but the previews look more murder mystery so not really sure.

I'm going to watch. The articles I read say it has nothing to do with the other show of the same name. The first American Gothic was a supernatural show. This new one is about a serial killer.

Yes, I am! It's the new show I've been looking forward to the most. CBS is billing it as a 13-part murder mystery.

I remember, several summers ago, when CBS aired Harper's Island. It was also a 13-part murder mystery, and I enjoyed it very much. So, I have high hopes for American Gothic.

I just noticed it was starting and I added it to record.

Harper's Island was fantastic! I was also confused about American Gothic because of the name, ignored it for a while and then the trailers kept catching my eye, so I have set it to record.

Bit silly of them to use a name that makes people think it's something it's not.

One reason I found Harper's Island so great was we had so much fun discussing the show here. That had to be one of the most fun threads ever!

LoL, every week I thought the murderer was someone different, but I never suspected it was who it was!

Apparently this is a 13 week murder mystery show, I am interested so I am starting this thread so we can speculate on who the killer is.

I watched it last night. Seems kind of good so far. The whole family is strange, except the one daughter that's married to the cop.

I found it entertaining. That little kid is scary. That's one messed up family. Nice house though.

My daughter and I watched it. I agree, they were all creepy except the one daughter. Watch it be her.

I thought the show was very entertaining. It also seemed easy to follow. I have so many shows at this point that having to rewatch something to try to have it make sense is such a PIA.

I've never watched AG before. Wanted to last night. I like Virginia Madsen. No AG in the Chicago area. CBS Chicago did at least an hour of weather reporting. Storms and tornados in Chicagoland and outskirts. Just remembered -- I have CBS All Access.

There's only been one episode so far, Color. So you aren't behind much at all.

That is perfect Jimmer. Is Alison the one running for mayor?

I think Alison is the one running for Mayor. The women have a remarkable resemblance to each other (which we might expect for sisters but they do look the part).

After the kid cut off Caramel's tail . . . so much for American Gothic. I'm out.

I can almost guarantee you that he didn't really cut off a cat's tail :-)

This show feels a bit like The Family....well to do family, a female character running for mayor who wants to hide family secrets because of her political campaign, and one of the siblings having drug abuse issues.

I like it so far...

Is this supposed to be like a miniseries with a resolution at the end of the season?

Not really really of course, but also not really as part of the story? I think he did as part of the story.
