I think they have been unfair to Maureen and overly praise others

Reader, they showed a lot of the judges reactions during the dancing; not just during Ryan's dance.
I think they are unfair to Maureen too, Pamy!!

I agree. I don't know why they seem so exceptionally hard on Maureen.

Too bad about Jake but I guess he didn't have much of a fan base. Wizards of Waverly Place was a cute clever show on the Disney Channel a few years ago. It was one of the things that launched Selena Gomez's career. My DD's really liked the show (I liked it too).

I just thought Jake was really awkward - and not in a good way. He seemed like he thought he was all that and he really wasn't. To me it didn't seem like his heart was really into the competition. (My daughter really liked the show also.)

I agree. He isn't a natural dancer and he seemed a little awkward interacting with the rest of the people on the show. Just didn't have the personality for it.

Glad Ryan wasn't the first out the door.

I think they are hard on both Maureen and Rick.

I have to admit I am also happy to see that Ryan Lochte was not the first to go too. In one of his interviews last night he seemed more remorseful than ever before. I felt like he actually owned up to acting like an immature brat. Now he isn't the best dancer, for sure, so I don't think he will last long. Just glad he was not the first out the door.

Thanks Sea, and I so agree, there's no way I can dance!

It was a rerun of their dancing, I'm sorry if I confused anyone (I made perfect sense in my own mind, sorry).

I found the captioning of their comments interesting. Thank you Texannie, I didn't watch it as much as I flipped back and forth.

Omg, just slogged my way thru the "results" show from last night. I thought American Idol was bad about filler! This could have easily been a one hour or even a half hour show. Ended up FFing through a lot of it.

Maybe I'm a skeptic, but I almost laughed out loud when Ryan said he'd "hit rock bottom." Baby, you don't even know what rock bottom is. He's been given a golden parachute to rehab his image. He's still on TV making tons of money. I wouldn't call that "rock bottom." I just found it ludicrous. He'll be next.

This is one of the reasons why I quit watching American Idol years ago. I hated the one-hour results show. When I saw it was a two-hour show last night, I was like "Oh. Hell. No."

I tape all my shows and ff through commercials. I have no patience for them anymore.

The "behind the scenes" parts were fun, but then all the musical performances (sorry, I didn't know any of these people) and the extraneous dance performances were too much.

Mame, we tape everything too. Even with skipping the commercials, it was too much filler. I only started watching this show a couple of seasons ago. It's kind of fun that I'm starting to recognize the difference dance styles.

Well since they only have an hour tonight (the Presidential Debate starts at 9 Eastern), they're doing 6 dance-offs- 2 couples will do the same dance (though with different songs), and whichever one in each dance has the higher score is immune from elimination tomorrow.

here's the lineups:

Jana/Gleb vs Babyface/Alison (Jive)

Laurie/Valentin vs Marilu/Derek (Tango)

James/Sharna vs Ryan/Cheryl (Cha Cha)

Calvin/Lindsey vs Terra/Sasha (Waltz)

Maureen/Artem vs Amber/Maks (Salsa)

Vanilla Ice/Witney vs Rick/Emma (Paso Doble)

And they can protect whoever they want to protect too. I'm guessing they will make sure Rick is vulnerable and Ryan is not.

Why are they doing some of these things so early in the season?

Sea- I think in this case they were sort of forced- they couldn't do a normal show since they only had an hour tonight, so they planned this.

I don't know about protecting people- why did they put Laurie and Marilu against each other? I'd think they'd want to protect both, and in a 6-way vote with not everyone paying attention you could have a shock exit...

With that long dark wig, I couldn't recognize Amber! It changed her face.

Actually I read them incorrectly.. I had the same info written down and read it incorrectly too!

I thought they had Laurie vs James.. top two.

Laurie vs Marilu.. maybe Val vs Derek?

I still don't care for pitting against each other. Someone always gets screwed on the team dances as well. and someone who doesn't really deserve it gets a better score just because of their team.

But they've always don it.

Amber had a wig! Hah. I certainly didn't recognize her! I was getting dinner ready in the other room and figured Maureen would need votes, but I need to see the dance first!

I did not recognize Amber's face at all with the wig. I think she looked a lot like Cheryl?
