per Reader's post

Quote from link above:
TIA stands for Transient Ischemic Attack, which means a loss of blood flow (brain, spinal cord or retinal) without tissue death. Symptoms do not typically last long, but do include the numbness and loss of speech that Zolciak writes about, in addition to loss of coordination and dizziness.

I read she had a heart 'procedure' doneā€¦nothing about 'surgery'.

True it says heart procedure.. of course surgery would be a procedure but even an angiogram would be considered invasive and major.

It didn't sound like something trivial anyway.

From People:

Zolciak-Biermann was discharged on Friday after having a final procedure.

So we really don't know if it was a surgical or non surgical procedure but it was said to be a heart procedure.

Sometime 'lazy' heart valves can throw a clot. I think they can be manipulated non-surgically to work more efficiently.

Found this on Med-Line:

Mitral valve surgery - minimally invasive

Mitral valve surgery is surgery to either repair or replace the mitral valve in your heart.

Blood flows from the lungs and enters the left atrium of the heart. The blood then flows into the left ventricle. The mitral valve is located between these two chambers. It makes sure that the blood keeps moving forward.

You may need surgery on your mitral valve if:

The mitral valve is hardened (calcified). This prevents blood from moving forward through the valve.
The mitral valve is too loose. Blood tends to flows backward when this occurs.
Minimally invasive mitral valve surgery is done through several small cuts. Another type of operation, open mitral valve surgery requires a larger cut.

yeah, I have mitral valve prolapse, had it for as long as I can remember, any surgery like that would not be minimal to me, so far, the doctors advise to live with it.

We'll see. Forgive me for being wary of housewives especially when they go to that much trouble to send out selfies from the hospital.

I love that Tony was by her side, but not surprised. He's a total mensch. (good person)

I have just done a small research and blood clots don't seem to be a side affect of botox.

It was nice to see Tony really get to dance. They always put him with sort of terrible dancers so we never get to really see him cut loose.

Paula & Louis and Andy & Allison were in jeopardy. But because Kim & Tony had to withdraw, no one else is leaving.

I really thought we'd see some of Tony dancing at the hospital, and maybe of Kim and Tony at Kim's home - not much dancing, but a bit. I'm glad they did read the rules, because that's what its all about!

I would think blood clots came from the waist cincher or whatever it is she wears, and flying (and sheer bad luck.. people do throw clots but often they don't get stuck.. it could be she had narrowing somewhere but this went to her brain. But very scary in such a young woman. Even if she didn't think about flying being a danger so soon, I would have thought they would have googled it without the doctors having to be the bad guys. She has a husband and SIX KIDS. No dance is worth leaving them.. Get stabilized!

I can understand it is a bitter disappointment for sure.

I can't even imagine the damage Kim's waist trainer did to her internal organs. Hopefully, her doctor told her to burn it.

Waist trainer? As in she was wearing a corset thingy?

I did a search and this is the first site that I found, (besides a Kardashian one, which I didn't open).

If women are going back to corsets they are cuckoo! And the prices of these things? Out of this world!

If Kim lived in LA instead of Atlanta, I suspect she would have been able to continue- the doctors didn't say she couldn't dance, they said she couldn't fly.

I wonder how the song issue Derek/Bindi had might have affected things (they originally were going to do something to The Jetsons, but they had problems getting the rights cleared- thus they had to switch to the Jeffersons and lost a couple of days of practice).

I suspect they may do the Jetsons dance at some point during the season, it's sounds too FUN not to.

Depends on whether they can get the rights. Maybe no further negotiations about it are possible.
