that 'song' was painfully long. I was trying to FF to see if there were any credits at the end. I do think it looked a lot like Ben, but who knows.

Well after reading a few of your comments expressing doubt that it's actually Ben in the video, I began to doubt it myself. So I was thinking perhaps I'd do a photo comparison to see if it really is Ben, even though Reality Steve is usually pretty accurate with these things (I don't much care for his snarky comments but I do have to concede he's usually pretty accurate.) Anyway, I went to the Bachelorette website to grab some photos of Ben to use for the comparison and found what I think is a smoking gun.
Looks pretty definitive to me! LOL!!

Brenda, I doubt it's a photoshop job as it's on the Bachelorette website. I'm guessing it's as you first said, that he must have told her about the video and decided to demo the character for her. It was his hometown date after all. I also read somewhere that Ben's partner at Evolve Wines said he met Ashley at the winery when she visited, so there was a lot to their date that we didn't see. I'm guessing Ben showing her his alter ego was part of that. Just my take on it.

Ask me why I'm spending time on this and I can only say it's because it's a little more amusing than things going on in my own life right now. With that said... I notice that Forgery Films only registered their domain last week and Conor Gaughan only recently opened his twitter account. However, he seems to exchange tweets with a variety of young Hollywood types (Justin Gaston) and one of his followers is a member of the Fab Five from Expedition Impossible. He also used to be CEO of a company called Winefetch. So... I suspect he is somehow connected to Ben but he has a pic posted and he doesn't appear to be the same guy appearing in the video with Ben. I find the timing of the release of the video to be a little suspicious, right before the Bachelorette finale, so it's hard to know if Ben endorsed releasing it right now or if it was simply out of his control. But I do think it's Ben in the video and although I was just as surprised as the next person to see him behaving in such a profane manner, it all seems like pretty harmless humor that would not be unexpected from a young man in his 20s. I suppose another theory could be that someone from the Bachelorette staff who saw Ben's "costume" during the hometown date went out and found a Ben look-a-like and had the video made in the two months since the hometown date actually occurred and strategically decided to release it now in order to capitalize on Ben's publicity. Referring to Ockham's Razor (sp?), which says that the simplest explanation is usually the correct one, I tend to think the second possibility is not as plausible as the idea that it's Ben in the video and one of his friends simply decided to release it now. Again, just my two cents.

The debate is whether it's actually Ben F. in the video. I'm saying yes but I don't think others are as convinced.

Jezzed, I watched the video and went to get images of Ben to compare as well but couldn't decide if it was him or not...I wanted to see the nose and chin but didn't find good images for comparison. Thennnnn I saw the photo on ABC in the gallery and err ummm, yeah, I think it's him and my thoughts are that he was trying to do some preemptive damage control by letting Ashley see his "costume". It appears he might be another fame hunter.

TXhazel, I keep wanting to stop short of thinking Ben was in it for the publicity, but you might be right. I hadn't thought of preemptive damage control but you might have a point. Hmmm...

Admittedly, I haven't figured out that video. But I just don't see the connection between making it (if it was Ben) and being a fame hunter. Up until RS dug deep to find it, did the video bring fame to anyone?
If it is Ben, maybe he had the costume in his closet and wanted to bring it out to show Ashley -- something fun for their date..

Yes, after seeing the pic on ABC, I think it is Ben on the video. I mean, where do they find most of these guys? Aren't many of them on the fringes of the biz and possibly wanting to get into it? It certainly shows a different side of Ben, but I still think he's probably a nice guy. I think the video was *supposed* to be funny, even if I think it fell short.

Well, I don't know how old Ben is, but I'm guessing mid to late 20s, and I can't imagine someone that age who would be in a video like that disgusting thing for any other purpose. However, I do know that men tend to mature at a slower pace than women, so, it's a long shot, IMO.
I happen to think that the scenario about having to have a costume tucked away in his closet for him to show a possible mate would be quite a gi-normous stretch. Quite the coinkydink!

I don't think it would be far fetched at all that he would have the outfit. Clearly it was a low-budget film made by he and his buddy. I doubt they had a wardrobe department. I would expect that both guys kept their costume.
I know my DS (and DD) have done films in school and we have a box with their props/costumes...

No, Texannie, he did not. I thought it was a boring show except for the outtakes, which I enjoyed. Ashley wiped away tears at the beginning when talking about the bentley problem. I was not sure if she was tearing up because of the embarrassment or because of the mean things that she read on internet about herself in relation to bentley. Did anyone catch which?
