Grooch, Dipo and I are, I think, a generation older than you. I am. We elders grew up eating fish on Fridays as children because Catholics can't/couldn't? eat meat on Fridays. My family was not Catholic, but my mother knew how to stretch a dollar, so fish went on sale on Fridays, and we had one pound of frozen haddock for a family of 5 on Fridays. I think it cost 99 cents. So, Dipo's place is likely doing fish on Friday, not for the cost, but because people of my age who grew up Catholic may still honor the tradition.

Very true Juju. Someone complained (our resident that complains about every single thing whether it bothers her or not) that it was religious. No one else cared.
I countered it is traditional, much like Taco Tuesday! And although we don't have many tacos we do have usually have mexican on Tuesdays.

Artichoke pizza on Fridays would shut her up.
I cannot abide the taste of seafood. I grew up on an island where there is an overabundance of it. We would go fishing and clamming all the time when we were kids.
I just don't like it.

Haha, Dipo, you might be right - alliteration - Taco Tuesday, Fish Friday!
I grew up in the landlocked midwest. Frozen haddock was a delicacy. But my mother was from coastal Australia. My Daddy, from a central Illinois farm family likely knew how to fish, but didn't have time to do it. Thank goodness we didn't have to depend on Illinois freshwater fish, because they are all icky, and my foreign-born mother knew how to procure firm, mild-tasting ocean fish.

No clue what "dinner" was today, it was a Halloween Party from 12:20 to 2pm with a Halloween Luncheon and no one ever sent the Menu out to the Residents.
I went out and got a Marvelous French Dip Sandwich with French Fries and a slice of peach pie with whipped cream.
