severeweatherus 28m FYI: filling a volcano with cement or heavy metal rocks will NOT prevent lava flow or an eruption. The extreme heat (over 1,000°C) would melt or vaporize it, and the volcanic pressure would eject it anyway. This would possibly worsening eruptions. It's not a good way to prevent lava flow. Can't believe this needs to be said.

Rain all day, but not heavy, temps in high 40's It might SNOW next week. I am friends with Mishamisha on Facebook, and some of you old-timers will remember the name - brilliant, brilliant, snarky, but kind, woman (hell, she might even be reading here, so this will make her blush). Anyway, when I posted on Facebook (I don't post there often) that we had returned to the Pacific Northwest, she replied that we had returned just in time for the false spring. So - snow next week, of course.

Thanks for the heads up on volcanoes, Dipo. I promise that I will not fill any volcanoes I encounter with cement. I think we have rain on the way. Had some the other day..

severeweatherus 19m Heads up! Tornado threat is expected to increase by mid-late afternoon or early evening across eastern Texas and much of Louisiana. A line of storms in Central Texas is expected to intensify in coming hours, with a gradual increase in damaging-wind and line-embedded tornado threat. Closely monitoring for potential for cells to develop ahead of the line, which could enhance the tornado threat. Have multiple ways to receive warnings!

What happened to the rain??? Was supposed to start pouring last night around 4am, didn't see but we might have gotten a bit of a drizzle. It's nice out, kind of warm with white clouds and no breeze, temps going to 56. May be showers off and on with real rain later this afternoon.

First night below freezing since we returned to WA 2 weeks ago. We had to bring the hummingbird feeder in and add warmer feeder water to it this morning. We have ONE non-migrating species that stays in WA state over the winter, the Anna's hummingbird.

I guess we had rain, the streets are wet and there are few drops on my balcony, but it wasn't that winter downpour they promised me, LOL. Cloudy and gray out, no breeze, temps only going to 50. At least the snow on the ski jump made me feel wintery, LOL.

severeweatherus 3m FYI: Don't drive on Lake Erie. Lake Erie is still over 90% frozen and the thaw should not catch anyone off guard. Cracks on the lake will become more numerous. This weekend, a truck tried to drive on the lake and it broke through ice. The ice is thinning very quickly as above freezing temperatures continue.

Rain yesterday, last night this morning. A break now so I went out to a couple of places. The clouds in Pamy 's direction look menacing.

Whoa!!! ... about Big Bear. Just checked our forecast, and snow is out of the forecast for the following 9 days, but we have below freezing nights for the next few days, so we have brought in the hummingbird feeder, so it won't freeze overnight, and we can get it out again early tomorrow morning.
