We are now down in South Padre Island, TX for the next three months. We are about 300 mile south of Mack, and also looking for the cold front to come through here overnight Sunday night. Probably low in the low '60's.

NOAA cut funding to the Alaska Earthquake Center, directed by my friend Mike West. As a result, seismic monitoring by nine stations in Alaska tracking tsunami-causing earthquakes will go offline by the end of the month. This endangers people in Alaska, Hawaiʻi, and other parts of the Pacific.
This lab is key for tracking deadly waves. Its sensors are about to go offline

More gray and clouds, they keeps saying there is a wind advisory but the leaves on my trees aren't even moving, LOL.
Rain is supposed to come later tonight with temps going up to 69.
Wow the warning has changed to a Gale Warning, Wind Avisory and Small Craft Warning.

Wow...
A stratospheric warming event is projected to take place in late November. The last time there was one this early as this is predicted to be was 1968! IF this happens, it will disrupt winds around the polar vortex, causing it to weaken, potentially collapse and to be displaced.
The Polar Vortex is located in northern Canada is a warming event could cause it too collapse.
The Polar Vortex is a bit swirling mass of arctic air that spins around the North Pole during winter.

Northern Lights visible now as far south as Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and South Carolina.

Earlier it was gray and cloudy, now the sun is out, we have competing blue skies with fluffy clouds and gray skies will dark clouds, LOL. Temps going to 64.
We might get some more rain tomorrow but for today most of the rain is down in the LA area.

Weather is weird, when I got up it seemed like it was going to be a sunny normal day. Now the clouds are darkening up and it seems rainy and gray. No breeze with temps going to 67.
The forecast is partly cloudy ... might get some rain, from the LA Storm but mostly it is going to rain down there.

Record or near record warm here. 82F yesterday and forecast 84F today and for the next three or four days. Might drop to the low 70s late next week. Reminds of a couple of years ago during Christmas lights in shorts and a t-shirt. Actually got sunburn that year.

Oh wait, is lake Balboa in Balboa Park in San Diego, where the famous San Diego Zoo is? It sure sounds like I should know where Lake Balboa is, as we have been to Balboa Park numerous times when catching cruises in or out of San Diego.

Still warm and humid here in San Antonio. Actually had to turn the AC back on as we both roasted a couple of nights ago. It is forecast to be in the mid 80F degrees through this coming Thursday. After that we might actually get more typical fall weather in the 60F to 70F range. Winter here usually really hits in late December and last about 6 to 8 weeks. This is fine by us as neither of us likes cold weather. This is no place for snow lovers which we are not. 🙂
