severeweatherus 44m The U.S Coast Guard is on its way to western Alaska following the terrible situation in multiple communities. Remnants of a typhoon brought hurricane force winds & catastrophic coastal flooding. Reports of at least 24 people missing. Alaska is trying to get troopers to these communities to confirm these reports. Multiple homes floated away. Search & rescue is underway. State of Disaster declared. National Guard deployed. More than a dozen agencies involved in disaster response. severeweatherus 16m Anyone in Alaska that needs to be rescued should contact the Alaska Rescue Coordination Center at 907-551-7230 for immediate rescue. At least 34 people have been rescued so far, but unfortunately, reports of at least two dozen still missing from this horrific storm that brought devastating winds and coastal flooding to multiple communities in Western Alaska.

A little odd, I have blue skies with white fluffy clouds from the living room windows and gray clouds from the balcony, LOL. Rain was supposed to be here at 9am but has been moved to 1pm. Guess the storm has moved into our area slower than predicted. We have a little breeze and temps going to 63.

severeweatherus 2m Heads up! A significant storm is expected to bring multiple hazards including life threatening flooding (burn scars), heavy snow -- 1 to 3 FEET (mainly Sierra Nevada), thunderstorms and possible waterspouts/brief tornadoes to California. A brief tornado/waterspout risk could develop as early as tonight along the central/southern California coastline and continue into tomorrow from Los Angeles/Orange County to Ventura & Santa Barbara County. A tornado or two is possible today across Arizona.

Finally stopped raining around 9pm, for quite awhile it seemed to be coming down pretty heavy. So it was nice to get a good rain. Now we have hazy gray clouds with some blue sky peeking thru, no breeze and temps going to 59.

severeweatherus 25m An evacuation order has been issued for 115 properties in Pacific Palisades in the Palisades burn scar in California. LAPD is going door to door and telling residents in these flood prone areas to leave. The rest of the burn zone is in an evacuation warning. This is due to potential for mudslides and life threatening debris flows. Heed the evacuation orders and warnings!

severeweatherus 27m Funding the National Weather Service is CRITICAL/IMPORTANT. CNN reports that lack of weather data impacted the forecast for the deadly and catastrophic Alaska storm due to lack of weather balloon coverage in the western part of the state. FUND the National Weather Service. Staffing the National Weather Service is very important as well.

severeweatherus 1h JUST IN: Anchorage, Alaska is setting up four shelters that could potentially accommodate more than 1,000 people displaced by unprecedented storms that left entire Western Alaska communities largely uninhabitable. Already 300 western Alaska residents have evacuated to Anchorage with a lot more expected. This comes after a historic storm brought devastating impacts across multiple communities in western Alaska over the weekend.

severeweatherus 44m ALASKA: Horrifying. Regarding the catastrophic storm: "We started drifting away & going in circles" one resident said. Tristen Carl said his home, and the 14 people inside, were lifted off the ground before hitting a separate house. “Brace, brace, brace!” Carl told everyone. The storm carried some of the buildings up to 5 miles away or out to sea. On Tuesday, 1,800 people from 49 villages were forced to leave their homes due to the devastating impacts.
