Yeah it would be nice if the Federal Government "managed" their forests instead of criticizing us for not managing the ones owned by them.
And I know we should have started up that weather control machine that would stop the 1000 lightning strikes that started some of them, LOL.

Today is lovely, it is starting to feel a bit like fall. We have a nice breeze and supposedly there is some "nuisance rain" out there.
Skies are blue in my neighborhood, no clouds, and temps are only going to 79.

In the “hellhole” known by some in DC as Portland, we are having a very nice fall day. Heavy marine layer with 68 degrees, sun later. Hit the Farmers Market this morning, will be brave and head downtown for a movie this afternoon.

Increasingly concerned for the potential for a strong (EF-2 or higher) tornado with the storm approaching Great Barrington, Massachusetts.
People living in Great Barrington and Sheffield, Massachusetts as well as Canaan, Connecticut need to take cover NOW! Could be a dangerous situation developing.

A 3.5-magnitude earthquake hit near La Verne on Saturday evening, according to the USGS.
The earthquake struck around 5:11 p.m. There were no reports of injuries or structural damage in the immediate aftermath of the quake.

We had less than a 3% chance of getting rain here today, but right around 3 pm (as I was napping), Bigdog said a patch of hard rain moved over our area complete with thunder and lightning and then quickly moved on north. Quite odd.

The State of Hawaii has issued a State of Emergency ahead of Hurricane Kiko.
Kiko is a Category 4 hurricane. Kiko is expected to weaken to a tropical storm or even a Category 1 hurricane before it reaches the Hawaiian Islands or even passes just north.
Kiko may bring tropical storm force wind gusts, heavy rain, life threatening rip currents, surf to the state this week.
Preparations should begin.

If you can see the Moon at all, you are witnessing a total lunar eclipse over the next few hours. The Full Moon is passing into and out of Earth’s conical shadow in space. This event is long and boring and resembles the Moon going through phases.
