Dangerous, prolonged heat is expected across portions of the Central and Southeast U.S. from today through the end of July. Per the Weather Prediction Center, Widespread Major to Extreme Heat Risk is expected over the Mid-Mississippi, Lower Ohio Valleys, and the Mid South.
During hot and humid weather, your body's ability to cool itself is challenged in ways you may not expect.

So far today, at least 3 tornadoes touched down in the U.S.
2 in Nebraska
• 1 near Westerville, Nebraska.
• 1 near Sargent, Nebraska.
1 near Oconto, Wisconsin. A few tornadoes remain possible through the evening across southern Nebraska, the UP of Michigan and southern Minnesota/perhaps Wisconsin.
Stay weather aware and be safe!

A bill introduced in the Missouri Senate aims to ban all forms of environmental manipulation across the state, including weather modificaion.
Florida. Now Missouri. Do they realize that this won't stop weather events like tornadoes, hurricanes, floods etc from happening?

For those in the Midwest, Plains, Northeast, Mid- Atlantic, Mid and Deep South that hate the heat -- I got some good news.
The cool down is coming at the beginning of August. A little break from the heat is likely during the beginning of August where temperatures are predicted to be below average.
Until then -- stay cool, safe and hydrated!
The western states also expected to be near normal or below average.
Florida, Hawaii, the southwest and Alaska are expected to be above average.

Dangerous flash flooding is ongoing in Annapolis, Maryland.
Turn around when encountering flooded roadways! You don't know if the road has been washed out underneath the water.
Most flood related fatalities occur in vehicles.

One of the strongest earthquakes ever recorded hit Russia's Far East, flooding a fishing port with waves from a tsunami, cutting power to a few areas and sending some panicked residents to flee buildings but causing only a few injuries.

The Gifford Fire started yesterday in the Los Padres National Forest in California and was active all night, and is mapped at a staggering 12,800 acres. A huge run in less than 10 hours, and it's likely bigger.
There are still evacuation warnings/orders in parts of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties. The fire is 5% contained at latest update.
