The Springs Fire, a large wildfire burning near Moreno Valley, California continues to grow in size.
Here's another view of it. Multiple homes and structures are in immediate danger in the next 20-30 minutes.
Mandatory evacuation orders are in effect. Photo: Alert California.

The hottest temperatures.. I assume the California one is from Death Valley and that isn't too surprising.

What I am getting is daddy long legs spiders each claiming a corner in bathroom or kitchen. Also had one on each side of my front door down low.. But now one of those disappeared. I think the other one ate it. Oh also one in a corner of the livingroom.

I think daddy longlegs are not harmful to humans. When we get one in our house, we usually to catch it gently in some kind of gentle cloth and release it outdoors.

Fun fact for those living in the PACIFIC NORTHWEST - wherever you are in your house, you will most likely have some kind of spider within three feet of you. We don't ever get bitten, just catch them if we can and put them outside. I have had a small black spider flirting around my ceiling for a few days now. Now that we are shrinking in height due to old age, it is no longer as easy as it once was to capture spiders from our 8' ceilings.

I like daddy long legs for some reason. My mother's house was over a 100 years old, so there was always something getting inside. If there was a daddy longlegs in the house, I usually left it alone. I figured it could catch whatever other bug got in the house. They are the only spider (though not a real spider) that i would do that for.

In the kitchen, in the summer, there was always a wolf or jumping spider (not sure which) in the kitchen. It was a thick, hairy, small spider. He'd pop out from behind the kitchen window shelf and the counter. I didn't like him because he was very fast and I was always worried I'd get bit. No way you could catch him. He was small but mighty.

Juju, my father lives in the desert in California. Sometimes you'd find a black widow spider when cleaning. That is unnerving.

Very pretty out, going to be warmer today but not hot. We have clear blue skies with a nice breeze and temps going to 81.

I did not know that daddy longs legs are not real spiders, and are more closely related to mites, scorpions, and ticks. Huh!

Apparently daddy longlegs have a toxic bite but their mouth is way too small to bite humans.

I let them stay.. A few years ago I had an influx of ants and would grab one and drop it into the web.. I fed one spider and it would get very excited and whirl around each ant.

Black widows do hang out but brown recluse are more dangerous and tend to hide better.

When I lived in Modjeska Canyon, which is between two local mountain peaks here in Orange County, in Cleveland National Forest, we had tarantulas. Also rattlesnakes..

And the weather is nice but a bit windy.
