Was a very spring like day here in San Antonio. Tomorrow…Saturday late….the bottom is supposed to drop out and we actually might have our first overnight freeze. First of the winter and not even forecast to be a hard freeze at around 29-31F. Heck our grass is still green and this is mid January when it is normally totally brown.

BEYOND FREEZING COLD!!!

And it's going to stay this way for the next 2 weeks. In fact, the 2nd week is going to be even colder than this coming week.

Warm enough to go to outdoor water aerobics today in far south Texas this morning, but windy, so most of the group was cold, even in the heated pool. Temps did get into the sunny mid-70's later in the day. Looks like another cold front is coming through overnight.

It was 40F on our patio at 7 AM here in San Antonio. It’s up to 45F at 9:40. Forecast is for mid 50’s by 3 PM. Might get down to freezing tonight but our forecast are regional and the San Antonio forecasts are for an area probably bigger than several states so it’s kind of a highly generalized temperature forecast. Could be colder or warmer at our house.

The fate of the planet’s coastlines depends on how fast Antarctica’s ice sheets melt. We don’t know what’s coming

A blast of winter weather has brought snowfall and subfreezing wind chills across the Midwest and East Coast as well as near-freezing temperatures in parts of the South, including Florida.

33F on our patio at 8 AM and officially 29F at the airport which is 9 miles away. Our pool has an automatic anti-freeze cycle that comes on to protect the pool equipment and plumbing and it ran pretty much all night and is running right now. Forecast is for a high of 59-61F today.

47 and we are in the fog. Not as bad as it was the last two days, I can actually see across the street today.

Going up to 63, woo hoo.

New York City and the Northeast will get a shallow blanket of snow from two slow moving waves of precipitation that already led to more than 100 flights being canceled.

The temperature may be 15 with a feels-like 0, but whenever I’m back in Chicago, the people are nothing but warm and friendly.
This is an amazing city, just like Minneapolis, Portland, LA, and DC. Don’t let Convicted Felon Donald Trump tell you otherwise.

AURORAS: X-2 solar flare (biggest kind) with possibly magnetic shockwave (CME, or coronal mass ejection), is probably heading toward Earth. It could pass just to the east, but regardless, it's a halo CME and would still create significant auroras.
It could trigger at least G-3 geomagnetic storms. This could create significant northern lights, very late tomorrow night/Tuesday morning or, most likely, Tuesday night and Wednesday.
Should see a watch being issued by NOAA.
