Naja, I could do with cheap shampoo, but definitely not conditioner!

But wait, maybe not. I buy the chemical free stuff.

Add deodorant to the list. I work in 90° plus temperatures all day at work in the summer. I don't want sticky wet and smelly armpits.

There are some items we won’t buy unless we can get basically our one preferred brand. Mayo, ketchup, toilet paper, dish soap, laundry soap, and paper towels are some of those items. We typically don’t buy store brands as we’ve found most of them lacking. That’s become an issue as our major chain here has started pushing their in-house brand more and more. Their brand items now take up a lot of the shelve space, particularly at eye level. I understand for some families the savings from buying house brands can make a big difference but luckily we’re not at that point.

Lol! We only use Scott's because its the only safe one to use for septic tanks, in my opinion. Don't need problems with the cesspool.

Both Carey and I have had houses on septic tanks. We both swore “never again”. 😬 Our first house together was in northern Virginia and had city water and sewer. When we moved here we told our real estate agent that our must have list was city/county water and sewer and natural gas. I will say Charmin says their toilet paper is septic system safe but I have heard Scott products are safe too.

New Question:

What are Trick or Treating hours this year in your town?

Mine are oddly short. Our city's facebook page says "Trick or treating hours are on Saturday, October 31st, between 6-8 at homes with porch lights on. Happy Halloween!"

We don’t have any designated hours that I know about. Everyone always just does whatever they want.

Our community doesn’t have set hours. Typically parents bring the real little ones around about dusk. Older kids shortly thereafter but usually by 8:30-9:00 PM it pretty well is quiet. We really don’t have a lot of kids in the community as most have aged out. Not unusual now to only get 30-40 total. Twenty three years ago it was maybe as many as 150-200. Pretty stable community with little turnover in houses and probably more expensive than a typical young family can afford.

I don't think we have any rules.. Seems we have a house decorating contest and some events. A site have past years weather conditions in each city from 6-8pm.

Apparently we are due for rain. And our coastal areas of the county have flooding from tides at historically high levels. My city has no coast areas.

Now my HOA does want decorations down at some point which will be in the next newsletter, I imagine.

My only decoration so far is a Halloween garden flag.

I don't participate because I am not opening my door and either risking my cat getting out, or being shut in a room.

Last year I hadn't moved back in, so Katniss wasn't here. I did have candy and hung out with neighbors handing out candy.

We have 4 little kids in our building of 4 units and lots of kids in our complex.

No set hours. The littles usually start coming around 530 and we keep giving out candy until about 8-8:30...we usually run out by then.

This year since it is on Sat we got 4 times the candy plus 90 full size bars for the teens. Sadly it is going to rain so now I am so bummed we will prolly not get many :-(

We went to an early Halloween costume party last night in our over 55 community, single family duplex homes last night. Our costumes got a lot of accolades, and we post-party, went to ring the doorbells of neighbors who couldn't attend for various reasons, to show off our costumes. It was a quite fun night. A neighbor took photos of us in our costumes, and e-mailed them to me, but we are departing for winter in TX day after tomorrow. If any of you kids who can go tap tap tap and post photos would like to post them for me, I still have the e-mail that is in my profile, and a bunch of you have my real-life e-mail address.

We've been participating in a Halloween Potluck in our cul-de-sac and put all the candies into a big bin so the kiddies only have one stop and don't have to walk around the cu-de-sac. We usually start at 5:30pm. It's supposed to rain so we'll see if this annual event happens.

Isn't the whole point is to have them walk the whole cul de sac so they get tired out by the end of the night?

Grooch, good point. However we live in a hilly area and you have to walk up to our cul-de-sac. So in our way to passing out candy, it gives those littles and their parents a little break. Plus the annual potluck is a nice social gathering with our neighbors.

I remember being 9, and my brother 8, when we were trick or treating without our babysitter. And we lived on the south side of Chicago in the 70s!

Our condo allows trick or treating from 6:30-8:00 pm. I sat outside my suite with a bowl of goodies, sporting a cowboy hat. We have to sign up if we're interested in handing out candies. And families in our building have to sign up indicating how many children they will bring around.

I got individual bags of pretzels and gave them to my neighbor, as they had a lot of people over and a small bounce house so they could hand those out for me. I stayed in and ate and watched the first 3 episodes of Cupertino.

No one knocked or rang. It was misting but that turned into rain.
