It is just a day for me.. Some milestones I do note. I recently passed the number of years, months and days that my mom lived.

Yesterday was the 50th anniversary of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Question: Did you ever go to the theater to watch it, and did you participate with the audience?

I never have but my wife did when she was at college. She said it was a wild funny experience.

Way back when, I went a few times to the midnight show at St. Marks Place in NYC on Friday nights. Didnt participate but had tons of fun.

I don’t think I’ve ever watched the whole movie. Maybe pieces and parts but not the whole movie.

It was a thing back in the day. Fridays at midnight, everyone dressed up, went to the theatre, and got up on stage. Usually after inhaling a good amount of cannabis was required to get in the swing.

It’s a different experience when you see it with a participating audience. People were pretty innovative. 😂

Hmm 73 74.. I was working full time, commuting 35 miles each way, living in a small canyon in a national forest, not great tv reception, very active in the Labrador club and dog shows many weekends, raising and training labradors.. This wouldn't have been part of our lifestyle, I guess. I am sure it was great fun.

Yes, many times in the mid-1970's when we lived in Tampa. Bigdog had a doper buddy who roped us into going at midnight on Saturdays as Maris said. I couldn't use marijuana, of course, because I was a federal agent by then. We didn't dress up, but we did sometimes take water pistols to squirt into the audience for the rainy scenes, and we took old playing cards to throw into the air when Tim Curry sang the song about cards for happiness and cards for pain. Sometimes we took toast to also throw into the air. And of course we all flicked on our Bic lighters when Brad and Janet sang their moving duet: "There's a Light." Ah, good times. And come to think of it, we did just watch it 75 years later this past summer when we found it was on the video menu in our cruise cabin on the way back from Greenland. We sang all the songs, of course, and also danced to The Time Warp" song, albeit in geriatric fashion.

New Question! Would you rather see the movie, or read the book first?

Definitely read the book first. In fact, that’s how I get started on reading some things. I’ll see they’ve been made into a TV series or movie and if it sounds interesting I’ll look for the book and read it first.

I like to read the book first, too. But I will say that I saw the movie Gone With The Wind like a 100 times when HBO first came out. They didn't have many movies to show when they first started and we didn't have cable. I read the book many years later in a Social Studies class in high school. The two are quite different. A lot was cut out and things were changed so they could fit it all in the movie. I'm glad I saw the movie first, so I wasn't disappointed, and I kind of consider them two separate entities because I enjoy both. And there was a documentary made of the making of the movie which was amazing and really worth watching, too, if you ever get the chance.

Also, I was going to see Wicked on Broadway so I went and read the book first. Big mistake. I found it very disturbing and I had a hard time watching the play. I read the book to close to seeing the play and it was to fresh in my memory. While watching the play, I kept wondering how they picked this book to make it into a play for tweens. Certainly kids will be curious and read the book too. The play and the book are two entirely different things.

We are book readers here. Book first. Also, anybody here old enough to have first seen Bambi in a theater gets a pass on all movie/book quibbles. Of course I could read when I was four or so, but I still get a pass on everything. Oh, and OLD AGE IS NOT FOR SISSIES.
