RN today supposedly is the first day of the Mack family window replacement. They confirmed Friday that they’d start today. We don’t know which windows they will do first so we’re about 90% ready because some furniture can’t be moved until the last second. We also left the bedroom pull drapes up for privacy and will have to take those down when they do those windows. Their plan is to do 5 to 7 windows a day so with 39 windows it is going to take a week or more. Our concern right now is forecasted rain starting tomorrow.

RN New windows are so wonderful. The people I bought my house from put in new windows but skipped the basement windows. I have to get those done. There's 5 of them. RN Just got done submitting the paperwork for my real estate tax refund. YAY! I think you guys know the story. In 2023 and 2024 my property taxes were illegally raised by 56%. The legal limit is 15% in a single year. Some were raised a LOT more. Refunds were refused. So there was a class action lawsuit, and the guy responsible for the illegal tax hike, Jackson County Executive Frank White Jr., is out of office after a special recall election last autumn. So many legislators and local pundits said we would never get a refund, but here were are Thanks to the class action, I get the entire amount back in the form of property tax credits split equally over the next 3 years. Starting this year

RN the window replacement crew is here and just starting to pull out the old windows. Since we have a concrete stucco exterior it’s noisy and clouds of dust.

RN Good luck, Mack! We got new front windows last year that have made a HUGE difference. Naja, that is appalling! I missed hearing that. I’m so happy you are getting a refund. Karuuna, Rocky’s tail is an exclamation point on the word happy. Loved reading his story above.

RN, funny thing about that curly tail on Rocky... had his DNA done... not a single dog that has a curly tail in the bunch! Still a mystery where it came from, but it is cute!

RN the window replacement crew just quit and packed up for the night. They got kind of a late start but still cut around 16 of the 39 windows they are replacing. I thought they would completely do a window set at a time but they actually are preparing all the windows for removal first. Probably means they’ll fix the prep tomorrow as they said they’d be here at 8:30 AM instead of starting at 11 AM today. That should get the basic prep done tomorrow. I suspect they’ll actually start removing and replacing window by window Wednesday.

There were five today. Only three of them actually used cutting wheels to start the process of freeing the windows from the stucco. One is the main installer and he made a couple of runs today for more tools and more windows. The other guy is kind of a helper supplying the others with new blades, etc. By my count we have maybe 16 of the new windows and i suspect the rest will come tomorrow.

RN as if we didn’t have enough on our plates we booked another cruise for late 2027. It’s with a line we’ve never cruised with before but they had an offer we decided we couldn’t refuse. This one will just be Carey and I without our cruise partner. We need an us only break.

Mack, which cruise line? We can go another thread, or to either of our folders. I have been on a LOT, as you likely know. I am going to guess Seabourn.

RN I was all excited about being in a neighborhood that celebrates Halloween, but so far there is nothing but my decorations, and the house across the street has a pumpkin on their stoop. And they are the ones who had the haunted house last year when I was looking at this house. Maybe they set it up at the last minute? I have no idea.

RN we’re going to try Regent Seven Seas. That will be a first for us. We’ve been on Carnival, Celebrity, Holland America, and for the past 14 years been cruising on Silversea.

RN I was sitting on the sofa getting ready to start a show but the batteries on the remote died. I keep the AA batteries in the fridge so I got up and went to the kitchen. I opened the fridge, got a bowl of cottage cheese, went back to the sofa to enjoy my show, but the batteries were still dead in my remote control. I'm losing my mind! hahaha

RN I'm really bummed about your neighbors, Naja. I was looking forward to the pictures and the stories. Oh, well. Also, I heard today that you're not supposed to keep batteries in the fridge. (I didn't know people even did that.) What are the chances, the very same day I heard that bit if info, you go and pistol that you fo that. Lol!

RN I have put my batteries in the fridge my whole life. My mom too. She's the one I learned it from. But the point of my story was that I got cottage cheese instead of getting the new batteries! LOL

It gets worse, Naja, much, much worse. I would put my batteries in my fridge, but then I would never find them again. I'm gonna stick with the junk drawer.

Pamy, I haven't had a McRib in decades. That sounds good. Luckily I might forget. But that brought back a memory from The Osbournes when Jack was so excited that the McRib was back.

I used to keep batteries in the fridge but then when I only had a mini fridge I switched to a drawer. A recent list of items to have on hand in case of extended power outages said lithium batteries are better for disaster kits.

Naja, how did the black mask go? I suspect they know it is still you, despite the black mask.
