RN Luckily this crew are all long time regulars and know each other. 
The only reason there is so much grass is because it's been such a hot summer that they really haven't been outside for any length of time.

RN Pee only hurt my lawn quite a few years back. I think it was my black lab Candy's pee. Every place she would pee would turn the grass brown. The vet said it was too much nitrogen in her pee and I should change her dog food. That fixed the problem. Luckily I haven't run across that problem since then. Knock on wood!

RN just found out my son’s old beach house on Kauai was completely destroyed. He owned it for two years but sold it almost four years ago and moved back to San Francisco and eventually to San Antonio. We’re hoping to get pictures but nothing yet.

Just down the coast houses in Capistrano Beach are red tagged, after being ok there forever..

Rn: This should be interesting in a few minutes.
The owners son had a colonoscopy this morning. The owner and the wife left at 11:30 to get his alzheimers infusion.
It's 12 pm and I am hungry, but I'm alone at the store. I'm about to text the son's wife to see if she's coming in. Can't wait to see what her reply is.  lol!

RN as most of you here know that tomorrow September 11 is a very significant day for Carey and I as 25 years ago tomorrow we were in the Pentagon. We escaped and survived without any physical injuries but both have minor PTSD that we deal with without serious issues. Among the 124 killed in the Pentagon were a number of co-workers and close friends. We will never forget.

Never forget. I still can’t wrap my mind around that it happened. I’ll always remember that day and I can’t imagine what it must be like for the people who were directly involved.

RN I spent 7/11 here, on TVCH, reading all the conversations.
RN Locally, is was reported that a plane went down in a Pennsylvania field. We assumed it was some small private plane because it hadn't make the national news.
RN Sadly, it was part of a deadly mission.
RN I joined TVCH soon after that so I could post.

9/11 ... I was in the hospital that awful morning recovering from surgery I'd had the previous day. A friend called me, who was notorious for sick, practical jokes, so when she told me to turn on the TV I told her to knock it off, so she started yelling that it was true. I turned on the tv and to my horror it was true. And when I was released to go home, it was on repeat all over the TV the entire time I was recovering. And the world hasn't been the same since.

Adding, that as a Canadian I felt helpless as I watched my beloved NYC being attacked. (I went often to see Broadway shows.) So when the folks in Gander, Newfoundland took in every flight that was diverted there, I have never felt such pride as a Canadian. It felt so good that we were able to help our American neighbours at such a tragic time.

I woke up on the west coast and went to check emails. I was in two online groups, Socks and Seals and there were tons of emails, one group labelled Twin Towers, the other World Trade Center.. so I flipped on the tv.
Had friends in both groups who were in Manhattan, and also watched the Big Brother feeds. They didn't know but Dr Will did comment on no air traffic ..

He said that all over the world the controllers were scrambling.

We lived just a few miles from Dulles International Airport which is near Reston, Virginia which generally a “bedroom district” for Washington, DC. We got home about 11 AM after escaping the Pentagon. We immediately notice there was no low rumble of airplanes taking off and landing at Dulles. Within a few more hours the streets in our neighborhood were basically deserted. It stayed that way for the next two or three days. As it was Reagan National Airport, which is literally next door to the Pentagon, stayed closed for nearly a month. When it reopened it was bit unnerving to hear and see planes fly near or over the Pentagon.

Mame, you mentioned Gander, Newfoundland receiving all diverted airplanes there.
A few years ago my son took me to see the play "Come From Away". WOW! That play has never left my thoughts as I learned so much about the kind people in Gander, Newfoundland and all that they did to help about 6,700 airplane passengers/crew and a few military planes/crew. If you have seen this as a play or on Netflix, I highly recommend that you see it.
God Bless all the lives lost on 9/11. Never forget.

Eggie, the musical is wonderful. I absolutely loved it. It's on my bucket list to see it in Gander one day!
Hi Doc, yes, I remember the global chaos. Also, there were other spots in Canada that took in diverted planes... According to Google there were 17 different airports across the country, in what was called Operation Yellow Ribbon.

RN This is so cool. I remember looking at this photo in my Granny's photo albums when I was a little kid. It was already an old photo when I saw it back then! That is Granny's sister, my Great Aunt Marian, on the right. All the adults told me the reasons it was such a special photo, but me being a little kid, it went in one ear and out the other.
So this week Aunt Nancy scanned all of Granny's old photos and sent me copies. Looking through them, I stopped on this one and remembered there was a story behind it. All I remembered was that the man was famous. So I looked up male actors who served in WWII.
There is no mistaking that it's Tyrone Power! How cool is that?
