We did an innertube float down the Guadalupe River about 35 years ago. It was a placid river about 2-3 feet deep when we went, which most likely was summer.

The smoke around Chicago is no joke. I was working outside most of yesterday and feel like I smoked half a pack of cigarettes. That would be 1/2 a pack more than I have ever smoked in my life.

I heard the pollution level was in the 700s in Chicago yesterday. We were in the 100s when this just started with the smoke. I thought that was bad with the amber tint to everything, the smell, needing to turn the lights on in the middle of the day. I can't even imagine what it was like for you.

The system that hit south central Texas has moved off to the north so the areas so heavily hit are finally not getting any more rain. Some of the rivers are still draining and some down stream areas actually experienced near record flood crest last night. The few lakes we have in the area and filling up pretty fast but were very low because of the prolonged drought. As of this morning there have been two confirmed deaths though authorities have not reached some more remote locations.

It's amazing there's only been 2 deaths so far. I hope this doesn't become the new normal.

severeweatherus 9m A substantial severe weather outbreak is becoming increasingly likely from Ohio and the entire state of Pennsylvania into the Northeast U.S and the Mid-Atlantic region. Widespread damaging winds (70-80+ mph) are expected and tornadoes (some strong) are likely. The greater risk of strong tornadoes will be from the Philadelphia to New York City corridor, but tornadoes are possible across the WHOLE risk area. Have multiple ways to receive warnings!

Now watching the to the east part of the Gulf. There’s a system that might develop into a tropical depression and head west through the Gulf eventually hitting Texas Thursday or Friday. Too far out to determine or forecast the impact but not like we need more rain right now while this part of the state is still recovering from the last storm.
