The tropical system that brought up to 5 or 6 inches of rain to parts of San Antonio moved south and seems to be stuck basically along the Gulf Coast from Texas well into Louisiana. It doesn’t appear that it will move back north into our area but will hang along the coast and move slightly toward the east.
Juju is correct that there are a lot of low water crossings throughout Texas. Never ceases to amaze me the number of drivers who ignore the warnings and try to drive through the high waters. Some are so determined they even drive around or move barricades the authorities have put up. I was actually surprised that there were very few high water rescues reported from this last storm. A few weeks ago something like 12 or more people died here in the San Antonio area due to flash flooding and high waters. Many of those were in a homeless encampment along a normally dry stream bed so not all were reckless drivers.

Mack, one of the things I remember from Drivers Ed an eternity ago, was never to drive through standing water if you can't see the yellow line in the center of the road. It has served me well for decades, especially in South Florida and the road that runs along the beaches near where I live now (salt water). I never cared about the cars honking behind to keep going. Nope, not gonna do it. They can go around me, and I will go in reverse and find another way home.

Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast on the Biloxi River near Lyman, Mississippi. This approaches the flood of record. These are from the remnants of Tropical Storm Arthur.
Major flooding is occurrring along the river. Several bridges and roads may be washed out. Evacuation of Biloxi River Estates, Retreat Village, Oakridge Manor, Rolling Acres, and Riverland Village is strongly recommended by the National Weather Service.

A massive wave stripped shingles from rooftops as it crashed over an oceanfront condominium building in Keauhou, Hawaii. 😳🌊
“It was shocking to see the waves coming over top of the building,” said Elizabeth Cano, who took the video, “but it’s not the first time this has happened at this same condo from a large south swell.”
The Keauhou-Kona Surf and Racquet Condominium complex was also hit by enormous swells in 2022 in the aftermath of Hurricane Darby.

California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency Saturday for Los Angeles County in response to the ongoing warehouse fire in the Boyle Heights area, directing state agencies to support local response efforts.
A large column of smoke continued to rise over Boyle Heights on Saturday night, drifting miles from the scene and worsening air quality as the fire smoldered.

As a large warehouse fire continues to burn in Boyle Heights, local officials are distributing free air purifiers and masks for impacted residents.
Video from Monday afternoon showed a long line of people-- wrapping around the parking lot and down the street -- at Our Lady of Victory Church on Herbert Avenue, where community members were lining up to receive free air purifiers and face masks.
