Naja, that is nice that you could help her and that you have a place for her to leave her dog.

Oh, good.. Some how I got the hurricane dog mixed up. By the way, I love your fencing, as seen in the video! And the dogs looked very happy. What a blessing you are for Rusty and his mom!

RN Thanks Dogdoc! RN Sea, after the couple of fence jumpers I had at the old house, and that Terror feeling that goes through me when it happens, getting a 6 ft fence was one of the first things I did when I moved here. Now I can safely watch fence jumpers who can't go to sitter's houses that have short chain link fences. That's mostly what people have around here. I'll be paying it off for another year but it's worth it!

RN Our missed port was actually a first for us in the Med and we have 100+ cruise days in the Med. Silversea actually pulled a rabbit out of a hat and got the vast majority of tours more or less back to as advertised. Yes we maybe didn’t have as much time in Pompei as planned by as an amateur archeologist several days would not be enough for me.

I've watched "Below Deck - Mediterranean" in the past, and there were days when Captain Sandy couldn't get the boat out from the harbor because of the winds. I wish I could remember more details, but I can't. But the whole weather thing was quite interesting. Mack, how many people are on your ship?

RN We are getting ready to dock in Gaeta, Italy. This is a new port for us. No excursions for us today and Carey and our travel companion have another spa day planned. We probably will get off the ship after lunch and wander around the town. After three straight days of tours and probably 10+ miles of walking we are all ready for a break. No wind today and the sea is almost mirror flat. The Silver Shadow is small by some measures with only a 392 passenger capacity. It doesn’t feel like there are that many on board this cruise and I’m guessing there are around 350 passengers this trip. By the way once we’re home and have the time we….actually Carey…..will add this cruise to our webpage. Lots of pictures to sort through and comment on. Oh and our next adventure is a cruise in the South Pacific in January 2027.

We went to Pompei from Naples (Napoli), I think. Would love to see the new exhibits. Naja, the new fence is just wonderful! And I LOVE how all of those dogs KNOW you are the pack leader. They know you love them and will protect them and provide for them.

RN We’re in the Elba port. Going off to see where Napoleon was temporarily in “prison” before he escaped. Cruise coming to an end with just one more full day tomorrow then back to Nice. Because of the flights we will stay in Nice an extra day and fly home Wednesday.

RN Today we’re just docking on the island of Corsica. Despite its very Italian name the island is actually a part of France and has been since 1786. This is our last full day of the cruise. Overnight we’ll cruise back to Nice and disembark in the morning. Carey and I will stay one night in Nice then fly back to the US Wednesday morning.

Ditto, what Juju said. And luckily (depending where you fly into) the horrible rains will finally be over with, and there will be no flight delays.

RN I'm having an "interesting" morning so far. I got up around 5 am and put the coffee on. Probably 15 minutes later I got back up and poured myself a cup and went back to the bedroom and shut the door. Everything was normal. Then I heard some odd noises and I thought it was my friend who is staying with us (and sleeps at the other end of the house) had gotten up really early (he usually doesn't get up til 7). It seemed like he was making a lot of noise which is unusual, but it stopped. Well, then I got up again to get a second cup around 5:45, and I find my friend asleep at the dining room table asleep with his legs on the table and the table cloth wrapped around his legs and body like a blanket. This is very odd behavior for him. Why would he fall asleep there when his bedroom is 5 feet away past the table? So, I took a picture to show him later and hoped he wasn't dead. Then I got up again at 6:15 and saw he had changed positions and his head was now on the table and his feet were on the floor. I went and took another picture and after I took it, I realized it wasn't my friend! I yelled at the guy to wake up and he wouldn't. I kept shouting, "Wake up! Who are you?" Then I was calling for my friend to get up. My friend got up and the passed out guy could not really come to, he was so passed out drunk. He had his head raised and couldn't manage to open his eyes. I yelled at him that I was calling the cops if he didn’t get out. I was hoping that would snap him out of his stupor, but it didn't work. I did have to call the cops because he was just to drunk to throw out the door. When they came they had a hard time getting him up. He couldn't say who he was or where he was staying. They finally got him to stand up, he couldn't find his phone. I finally realized it was in his pocket. So, when he came through the front door, he must have tripped over my 2 boxes from Chewy that were 40 lb bags of alfalfa pellets that were on the floor, was on the floor between the table and next to the wall with the huge bay window, I have a marble top sitting on an old sewing machine frame that I usually put my plants on. He flipped the marble top onto the floor. He must have tried to crawl around the table and knocked over a plant stand that had plants on them and now I have to repot all the ones he didn't smash and killed, and made it to the chair all away around the table. His pants were underneath the marble top! Thank god he was wearing underwear. Or maybe they were shorts because his phone was in the pocket. He had also taken off his dirty, sopping wet socks and shoes. It rained all day yesterday, last night, and its still spritzing outside. When the cops finally got him out of the house, I heard him say the address he was staying at. A couple of houses down the road. A summer rental. They were all out there for a while before they put him in the cop car and took him away. He owes my $20 for a vase he broke. And maybe more if I can't save my plants. They are rare african violets that I paid good money for. And while they were all outside, the smoke detector went off and of course, you can't turn them off. On the bright side, because all the noise he must have made and it didn't really disturb me, I am now satisfied that the builder did put the sound proofing in the walls when he converted the garage into my bedroom. Lol! I still have a whole day to get through. I wonder what it will bring.

RN: Since he was asleep, I basically knew what was going on. And since I first thought it was my friend for the first half hour or so, it didn't get my adrenaline going.

I'm an early morning person. When I got up at 5, I opened the front door to check on the rain and my plants on the front porch that I need to plant today. I didn't lock it when I came back in. I mean, who's going to rob a house in the pouring rain at 5 in the morning with a car in the driveway and the bedroom lights on in an extremely safe neighborhood? Especially on a holiday when everyone is home for the holiday weekend? Only a really stupid person would. Oh, my friend told me that he told the guy he had to leave, the guy told him no, he was staying right where he was. Lol!

That is bananas! Glad it was basically a comedy. It could have easily turned into a tragedy! So glad you are both okay. And I do hope you get reimbursed for loss and damages.

RN haha, I love that movie. Thank God he wasn't someone dangerous! You must be a lot younger than me because just not having the ability anymore to fight back as hard as I could in the past makes me sure to lock the doors at all time.

My doors are always locked, but wow.. Now, if you didn't have a friend staying with you, I am sure you would have been super alarmed before even one cup of coffee!! Mack, safe travels to both of you.
