The games are almost here. Well, in fact as Dipo mentioned, some events have already started! Anyway, here’s a section for the games. I think as a general rule, we’ll have to say that discussions will occur as the events take place so if you don’t want to know what’s happening it’s probably best to avoid reading here. As always, if anyone has a specific topic, they’re welcome to create additional threads. I love the Olympics!

OK, now the whole magic of the opening ceremonies is broken because Mariah Carey is singing. Ugh.

So, I will post that i caught the tail end of the team figure skating competition. The American woman Alyssa Liu and then the Japanese female skater were so beautiful in their skating. They really made me stop and watch their whole routine.

No, Grooch, the magic was broken because Mariah was lip syncing and doing it badly at that. Lol I caught part of the team figure skating completion and loved it! I can’t wait to watch Alyssa Liu and Sakamoto Kaori skate in the individual competition. Liu had an amazing comeback and Kaori was perfection.

I love that American pair skaters, Ellie Kam and Danny O’Shea performed their free skate to KD Lang singing Hallelujah. We love you, Canada. Forgive us our idiots!

I love the Nordic design of the US sweaters. Once this opening ceremony is over, I probably won’t watch again until tomorrow.

Italy’s outfits remind me of WW2 uniforms. Pretty underwhelmed with the opening ceremony after the wonderful start. At one point, an actress does a bit on Italian hand signals that is quite cute. If you can, I would tape the ceremony and zip through much of it, such as a long line of models walking walking and more walking. This opening ceremony is lonnnnnnnng.

Since I missed the first hour of the Opening Ceremony this morning I am watching it now. I understand some of the comments much better .... So why was Mariah Carey there in the first place? Is she Italian? I thought she was American, LOL?

LOL I didn’t even notice that was her. I liked the one with the hand gestures. That was fun. The Olympic flame and the lighting of the cauldrons was spectacular.

I had been trying to figure out what that annoying noise was in the background of the Men's Downhill and the snow boarding events. It is a DRONE! Finally saw it flying over them as they skied.

I watched 2 curling games today. Us vs Great Britain, and US vs South Korea. Both great games (though there US lost both. Funny thing is that I have a friend staying with me for awhile, and he didn't sound to enthused about curling. By the middle of the first game, he was a complete convert, having fun watching it.
