The cellphone and internet providers are awful. It’s no better in Canada. Infuriating.

I sometimes get the feeling that cellphone and internet providers think they are doing us a favor by providing service. Switching from basically an AT&T and DirecTV house to Spectrum really hasn’t been all that hard but there have been some hiccups along the way. Right now we’re waiting for Spectrum to come back and switch our VOIP AT&T phone line over to Spectrum. We want to keep the same home phone number and that’s possible but not easy. Seems AT&T is dragging their feet and making it harder than it should be but supposedly that will happen 14 January. We will be keeping our AT&T cell phones as we fall under a government contract that saves us money. After Mrs Mack retires we’ll cross that bridge but AT&T doesn’t seem to care. Literally can tell them you’re with the government and they just shake their head and give you the discount.

Naja, Xfinity will also eventually screw you over, but if you got a 5 year price, then that is likely the best you can get.

RN, well someone screwed up the Social Security Site (perhaps DOGE). I have two different numbers for what my new payment will be, SMH, so I will see on the 14th.

When I moved to my rented room with a friend in late 2024, she was puzzled that I bought a tv and had cable and internet installed, since she has no internet, no computer.

RN Just got power on after 5 hours without it! The trees are all trimmed. The guys are working on putting in the new water heater. And the electricians are done putting in the new breaker box and now they're working on grounding all the ungrounded outlets in the house. When the inspector came by to okay the electrician's work, he looked at the old box and he said that's box is older than I am! And he was OLD! hahaha

Based on my experiences since October 8 2024, I would consider replacing the hose that brings water into each toilet, and the attachment to the tank as that failure on one toilet was the cause of such extensive damage to most of my home and some to the neighbor as well since we share a wall.
I opted to replace all three toilets as they were quite old, and the water heater which was not as old but old enough.
I also had electricians upgrade outlets and add new ones.. that has been a good thing. Favorite new one was a suggestion by an online friend who said she would like an outlet in her coat closet for charging or powering various things like vaccuums. I now have an outlet in my coat closet that is in use.
I should consider my breaker box..
You are getting a lot of stuff done, Naja.
I bet the dogs are pretty well settled in though all of you will be happy when things are more normal, soon.

RN Yes, the dogs are getting happier and happier each day. I have 2 dogs coming at 4 PM. My first boarders in this house. My dog schedule is jam packed for the rest of the month. I just unpacked about 10 boxes all for the kitchen. I have 4 more hours to get the main part of the house looking normal. I'm cutting it close. The handyman got my security cams up yesterday so that makes me feel a bit better, and the gates are tightly bungee corded closed. I'm not sleeping right at all. Asleep by 7 and up by 2 am. At least I am sleeping.

Well, the visiting dogs won't care how things look, but will be wanting to explore with Dolly and Patsy as their tour guides. And sounds like you have prioritized their safety.

RN Things are getting better. I actually slept until 6.
RN I noticed something so strange. I have a thermometer that bobs around my aquarium. It's never at the side that I've seen. It bobs around the center in front of the filter.
How did my snail get on it?!?! LOL! I had to hold it against the side for a few minutes so he could crawl off!

RN Bathroom renovations start today. I took a bunch of before photos but I'll hold them until I have the after photos. My plumber will be working all weekend. He said we should be done by Tuesday. This one will be a dramatic change!

RN Tub is being torn out and getting a big surround shower. New toilet and bigger vanity. New medicine cabinet, Closet being torn out to make more room and making the hall closet a linen closet instead. New floor, and all the old wall tile is being taking out for molded pvc paneling up to 4 ft, and then the rest of the way up will be painted wall. Here's a cap of the shower that will be put in. It's actually sitting in my garage right now.
