RN They said from the day the ground is broke, it will take 1-3 days. Today they are "blowing out" the line with a special machine because they pushed the blockage down the line and it's stuck. Water is flowing past it, but very slowly. Once that clog is blown out, they can start digging. Hopefully they can start digging today.

RN The real estate agent said it's better that it happened now instead of after the new people move in. She said it's something they could sue me for.

The city/county here only repairs water mains and sewers basically up to the property line. I’m pretty sure it was that way in the five other houses I’ve owned in three different states. I vaguely remember maybe one or two places the city/county had assistance programs for qualifying families.

RN ok, here's what happened day 2 with the plumbers. Before the can replace the section of pipe, they still had to get the blockage out that they had already managed to get out about 90 feet yesterday. Today they brought the blowout machine and I watched. They blew out with water a ball of roots bigger than my head all the way into the city sewer line. When we saw the city sewer line in the camera, we were all relieved because that meant one little part of the pipe earlier in the line is the only thing that has to be replaced. So tomorrow they start digging.

RN Really, it's not as bad as I thought it would be. Just over $3,500.

That’s bad enough but it could be worse.

I agree with Mack. And it brings back memories from when I was a kid. Somebody flushed the toilet and a branch came up into the toilet bowl. The whole line to the septic tank had to be replaced. It was a metal pipe that the tree roots had grown into.

The good thing was that a cousin was dating a guy who had an excavation company, so he did it for free. The bad thing was that he didn't get the right angle for the pipe, so we went many years with problems and my brother and his friend had to dig the whole line up and redo themselves it correctly.

Coming late to the discussion…..Did you check to see if your homeowners insurance covered the broken pipe?

Highly unlikely as it doesn’t normally meet the test of being a natural occurrence like a hurricane, tornado, flood, etc. Most insurance companies would view this as a home maintenance issue.

RN Today is finally picture day for the listing after being put off twice. I've been up since 2:30 AM central time trying to get everything done. Basically all I have left to do is vacuum the whole place, mop the kitchen floor, and put the good covers on the couch and loveseat.

RN Pictures are done! My listing should be updated with the photos tomorrow. I'll post it when it happens.

I am doing nothing for the rest of the day but eat, nap, and later try to stay awake for the Cubs playoff game. They start so late.

Naja, I agree with Grooch, you have been on an exhausting pace lately..

By the way, my neighbors moved.. sadly since literally everyone in our building and many others just gravitated to her and him and they will be so missed,

Luckily they are keeping this property and renting to a lifelong best friend, Nicole and I like her very much. She will be renting out a bedroom and bath and I told her about my friend from TVCH, Naja, and how you had rented to travelling medical people and they really liked that idea or a person with a job, and not a permanent renter. I had read a bit and noted that mostly these people would want a furnished room and Monica and Nicole were fine with that, have extra furniture anyway.

So I think they registered somewhere.

Was there anything that you provided that was really helpful in renting your room?
