Well that is a good question, when they moved everything out of the dining room they went away. I have asked where they went but no one knows so far. We keep finding the furniture all over the place in the hallways. Why they didn't just move everything into a vacant apartment is beyond me but this new manager seems to be lacking a bit of common sense.
So, we don't know where the robots are and we assume they are coming back because the remodel will make the aisles wide enough for them to function better.

The only other time we had it it was premade. And since they have very little kitchen available I suspect it will be the same.

You know, I don't remember. I think it depended on who the chef was for the day. They all had their specialties - Danny is Mexican (and I was amazed how bad his Mexican food was, LOL) and Joseph was more American stuff and Lloyd was an excellent pastry chef.
Most likely it would have been which was cheaper, the ingredients or the prepackaged.

I just realized I have the stuff to make a small batch of my own, LOL, I bought eggs the other day to make a spice cake, so I might make some potato salad this afternoon.

Disaster!! The chafing dishes look lovely and if the server likes you you can get as much as you want as long as you come down towards the end of serving time.
I thought there would be table service but you have to stand in line, now I could be wrong about that since the other servers were in the back getting more salads and desserts.
So I got my meatloaf with mashed, peas and gravy and a Banana Creme pie. There was no butter for the mashed or dinner roll and you would think they would have at least put salt/pepper shakers on the tables, LOL. Nope we were supposed to make due with 1 tiny packet of salt / pepper that comes in the plastic bag with utensils and a napkin.
I will send a suggestion that they need to have napkins, butter and the salt/pepper shakers available.
So I ate my dessert and brought the rest of it back to my house so I could add butter and pepper. The food was tasty, the set up - not planned well.
OH and did I mention the reopening has been moved out to Aug 13 instead of Aug 8.

Expect them to be done by the end of September. I'm going on my 3rd month of having to bay windows replaced. Basically a 2 day job for each window, possibly 3 to include the inside touch up work.
Something always happens that causes delays. Sigh.
