1. No
2. Yes

What was the closest DQ to us got shut down and demolished when they widened the freeway near us. A bit of a drive now to get to one so it has been years since we’ve been. Love their sundaes and dilly bars.

Seems there are several in Huntington Beach. One on Coast Hwy, another that is a Breaker and one that is Grill and Chill.

I think I might have been to one, maybe .. Long ago.

1. Yes (relatively -25 miles which is "close" in rural Michigan)
2. Yes - the town closest to us had one, and we loved the Buster Bars!

1. Yes - and it regularly wins awards for one of the top DQ locations in the country.
2. Yes - luckily it has a drive thru, so I go thru now and then when i'm on that side of town.

1. Not very close but not impossibly far away.

2. Yes many times. However, we also have an independent soft ice cream place that’s closer and it’s very good!

Places I grew up in either had independent ice cream stands, like with clown heads on the top or they were run during the summer by a very popular high school geometry teacher, so Dairy Queen was just that other business that wasn't as good. And then after high school when I lived in a college town, there were all these specialty hangout restaurants that had good food and beer and pinball machines and didn't mind us sitting around all night playing bridge as long as we kept buying those dollar pitchers of beer and pizzas and Italian Beef Sandwiches. So we just didn't go to Dairy Queens. I was surprised to move to Bellingham in 2000 and find out the locals actually do eat in Dairy Queens, so I have been a couple times in the past 20 or so years and was surprised to find the hamburgers edible.

1. Yes, but around here they call them "Dairy Queen: Grill and Chill"
2. I can't remember. We did have them around the Chicago area, but I have no memory of going to one.

NEW QUESTION!!!

I just saw this tweet and wondered, did you ever use this company?

23andMe declared bankruptcy and the company is gonna be sold off for parts. That includes your DNA information and the only amount of control you have is to delete your info immediately. It’s very simple to do.

No I never did because I never cared where I came from. But I think my brother was given it as a Christmas gift one year when they first came out and he might have. But, since I never cared, I never asked him if he did it.

I've toyed with the idea, but I've never done it.

Isn't there a privacy clause for clients? How can their personal information be a commodity for sale?

I am on both 23andme and ancestry. My brother is as well, which gives me the whole picture. Women can only get the maternal contribution.

Johnson and daughter of a first cousin on mom's side and some more distant cousins on dad's side.

My son had his DNA run with 23andMe a few years ago. He was surprised and initially disappointed with parts of their analyst. He thought his heritage was Germanic but it came back as Scandinavian. He wondered why but I pointed out my father and his grandfather was indeed German but his blond hair and blue eyes were a dead giveaway. Turns out father/grandfather was from a line of Germans who were actually from the Baltic region and were seafarers of Viking origin.

I did Ancestry.

The only part that surprised me was that I have some Swedish ancestry.

I am mainly English and German.

I was able to find out I don't carry the APOE4, for Alzheimer's, which is good.

My Dad had early macular degeneration diagnosis and I have 2 copies of one gene and one for another. This got my attention, and that of ophthalmologists. And indeed I have early stage macular degeneration.

Kitt says I have a higher percentage from British Isles than she does, though she was born there and I wasn't. I have a large percentage from Isle of Man, not a surprise as it aligns with extensive genealogy work done by a relative of my maternal grandmother and her father. 1.8% indigenous ancestry but no details beyond that.

NEW POLL QUESTION!

Do you have fireflies where you live now and when you were a child?

AltSpaceForce 🚀🇺🇲
‪@altspaceforce.altgov.info‬

Firefly populations are declining, but researchers are having trouble acquiring the data needed to study the situation.

Please visit the link & volunteer to send photos, videos, etc, of the fireflies you observe.

The Xerces Society will be most appreciative. ⚡️🪲
